Last update:

On Friday, London-based Fuel Ventures announced that it has led the £4M (approximately €4.7M) funding round of Prosper, a high-net-worth wealth management platform. The VC firm has invested £2M (approximately €2.3M) in the company.

Additionally, sixty professional sportspeople from The Players Fund have also invested in Prosper’s round.

It includes England cricket captains Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler, Olympic and world champions Dame Jess Ennis-Hill & Dame Sarah Storey, gold medal cyclist Tom Pidcock, and Arsenal & Bayern Munich footballers Ben White & Serge Gnabry. Liverpool footballer Cody Gakpo also backed the round directly.

With this investment, Prosper intends to rapidly scale its customer base, launch its private market investment offering, and build out its AI product.

The funding announcement follows Prosper’s initial angel round, which saw support from an impressive roster of investors, including founders of Monzo, Capital One, World First, Tandem, Azimo, Embark, Comply Advantage, as well as institutional angel investments from Silicon Valley firm Andreessen Horowitz (A16Z), Connect Ventures, MMC Ventures, and Portfolio Ventures.

Ricky Knox, Chairman and Co-Founder of Prosper, says, “We are thrilled to close our latest investment round and have the likes of Fuel Ventures join us on this journey to reshape wealth management. Their belief in our mission to revolutionise wealth management in favour of the customer is critical at this stage of our growth. With this investment, we’re excited to expand our AI-driven solutions to serve even more clients and deliver exceptional value.”

Prosper: Wealth management platform

Based out of London, Prosper is a high-net-worth wealth management platform designed to maximise people’s long-term wealth by leveraging AI.

Founded by Nick Perrett, Prosper provides pensions, investments, and savings with clear and low fees.

Members have access to competitive cash savings and 30 index funds from top asset managers without platform or transaction fees.

The company operates with a small team to maintain value for members.

Nick Perrett, CEO and Co-Founder of Prosper, adds, “For far too long we have had a rough deal from wealth managers: high fees, or worse still hidden fees, companies that incentivise their people to sell products rather than giving us the help we need, and managing this entire process with painful PDFs and old fashioned technology.”

Fuel Ventures: Support high-growth digital/tech businesses

Fuel Ventures aims to support high-growth digital/tech businesses, such as e-commerce, marketplaces, platforms, and software (SaaS) firms with ambitious founders or founding teams, firms with global scale growth potential, and firms with multi-billion dollar market opportunities.

The platform, which has over £200M in assets under administration, invests annually from its main fund in 12 to 15 seed and growth firms, and from its emerging fund in more than 30 idea/pre-seed and early growth companies.

Mark Pearson, founder of Fuel Ventures, comments,“Prosper stands out as a truly innovative player in the wealth management space. Their use of AI to provide tailored financial help for clients at scale addresses a significant market need. Nick, Ricky and the Prosper team are already making huge waves in the finance industry and we look forward to seeing how they continue to redefine how wealth management services are delivered in 2025.”
