Netherlands-based Puppyplaats, a website for buying and selling pets, announced on Tuesday, that it has visually rebranded and launched the PuppyPlaats app.
“We are proud to launch our new look that reflects our commitment to animal welfare and safety! Nothing has changed other than our appearance, but our new identity reaffirms our commitment to creating the safest marketplace for dog rehoming,” says Puppyplaats.
Founded by Erwin Van Rijn in 2013, Puppyplaats claims to be the largest free online animal marketplace in the Netherlands with over 40,000 registered users.
Besides the Netherlands, the company is also active in Scandinavia, the UK, Italy, Spain, and The Czech Republic.
Everything you need to know about the rebranding
With this rebranding, PuppyPlaats hopes to have its goal to advance animal care in the Netherlands and focus on utmost safety for platform users reflected in all forms of communication.
To achieve this, a brand-new look and feel were created. Firstly, the two terms in the company name, PuppyPlaats, are italicised.
The new emblem for the rebranding depicts a dog affectionately gazing up at his (new) owner and house.
The platform’s remaining use of colour is based on green. Additionally, the website copy reinforces the goal.
The brand-new app also coincides with the rebranding to give users access to the Netherlands’ “most” secure and ethical marketplace for dogs.
These activities form the last step for the renewed PuppyPlaats since Pet Media Group took over.
Acquired and relaunched by Pet Media Group
In 2021, PuppyPlaats was acquired by Stockholm-based Pet Media Group in order to make it a safe and ethical pet marketplace and to advance animal care in the Netherlands.
A number of new website elements were also introduced in May 2022 to help with this goal.
The PuppyPlaats website was updated in 2022 with new features and guidelines to better serve its purpose.
For instance, the website forbids ads for foreign dogs and large-scale bread breeders. Additionally, an advanced ID verification technique, similar to the methods used by international banks, was incorporated.
PuppyPlaats has been watched daily since the takeover to make sure these precautions are taken. This strategy succeeds with a 50 per cent reduction in reported ads.
