Last update:

Berlin-based Recare, a SaaS platform streamlining patient transfers from hospitals to care providers, announced that it has raised €3.2M in fresh funding to enhance its digital discharge management marketplace in Germany.

The funding includes contributions from existing investors and a €2M loan facilitated by Gilion, which is known for helping tech companies access funding and forecast growth.

Mariam Koorang, GM for Germany at Gilion, says, “Recare has created a compelling and easy-to-use platform in a complex and regulated environment – marrying great technical ability and first-hand industry expertise.”

“The company has and continues to demonstrate robust, sustained, and predictable growth and is also playing a vital part in the efforts to meet the digitisation requirements for the health sector in Germany. We are pleased to be able to help finance the company’s next chapter.”

What does Recare offer?

Founded in 2017 by Maximilian Greschke, Recare is a technology company that helps hospitals manage patient discharges smoothly. They use technology and new ideas to help hospitals save time and money. This lets healthcare workers focus more on taking care of patients.

Recare’s search tool sends specific requests to potential providers and allows instant, secure communication between both parties. This makes the process quicker and more transparent for hospital staff, care providers, and patients.

Founder Greschke says, “We refuse the status quo of the healthcare system in Germany, or even Europe, where filling, scanning and faxing dozens of forms every single day for patients is still the norm.”

“We believe making processes faster and more secure with the help of technology is the key for positive impact in the healthcare system and ultimately helps healthcare professionals to focus on treating patients, not paperwork.”

Since acquiring Pflegeplatzmanager GmbH in 2023, Recare claims its digital marketplace has expanded to include 700 acute hospitals, 650 rehabilitation clinics, and 24,000 further service providers offering care and medical supplies for home care.

Capital utilisation

The funding enables Recare to develop its digital discharge management solutions further, enhancing patient aftercare processes during a “crucial moment” in the digital transformation of the German healthcare system.

The Hospital Future Act (Krankenhauszukunftsgesetz/KHZG) mandates hospitals to digitise and enhance efficiency, making the penetration of the discharge management market a key focus. With the funds, Recare says it will prioritise introducing its solutions to meet these evolving needs.
