Last update:

Berlin and San Jose-based Regimen, a startup that provides digital therapy for men’s most intimate health issues starting with ED (Erectile Dysfunction), announced that it has raised $2.25M (approx €1.90M) in its Seed round of funding.

The round was led by Switzerland-based Ringier Digital Ventures.

Capital utilisation

The proceeds from this round and the certification will allow Regimen to integrate with established healthcare models, and initiate clinical trials to further strengthen its scientific evidence base.

The app was recently CE-certified as a medical device in Europe.

Speaking on the development, co-founder and managing director Max Kersting says, “With this round of investment, we will be able to further personalise the program to each client’s needs through AI, strengthen our scientific leadership position and evidence base, co-create models with established healthcare organisations, and ultimately make Regimen more available to everyone who could benefit from it, all over the world.”

Regimen’s foundations

The idea for creating Regimen was inspired by Kersting’s own health journey when he was in his twenties.

Kersting says, “10 years ago, I tried everything — including injections and surgery — to cure my ED. When nothing worked, I developed a holistic program with the help of several experts, including Dr. Wolf Beecken, a urologist and andrologist. Thanks to this new approach I managed to overcome my issues, so we created Regimen for anyone else on the same journey.”

The company was founded in 2019 by Kersting and his two co-founders, medical director Dr. Wolf Beecken, a urologist and andrologist, and technical director Wilko Kunert. Kersting’s goal in creating Regimen was to make the same quality of personalised, holistic, and integrated care he received in his twenties available to everyone looking for it.

The company is currently part of DigitalHealth.London Accelerator program, and is gaining attention from global healthcare organisations like the NHS as a more sustainable way of treating patients with ED than drug therapy or in-person visits alone.

“Own your intimate health”

Regimen app offers digital therapeutic programming designed to provide a sustainable treatment beyond medication to address the primary causes of ED. According to the company,  Regimen is gaining traction as the first holistic digital therapy for treating erectile dysfunction, which affects an estimated 150 million people worldwide.

The app provides personalised daily recommended treatments like pelvic floor exercises, cardiovascular training, mindfulness, education, and more; and uses an AI-driven approach to personalise its programs in real-time, with regular reassessment cycles.

Currently, Regimen is a subscription-based app at $95 for a six-month subscription — though the company hopes that it will be able to offer reimbursement through insurance providers in the future.

According to early data from several thousand users, an average improvement of five points has been witnessed on the International Index of Erectile Function from regular use within the first three months.
