Rotterdam-based Relive, the outdoor activity visualisation app, has acquired Amsterdam’s JOIN, an adaptive cycling training app. The acquisition aligns with both companies’ vision to build a portfolio of health and fitness apps that support active lifestyles worldwide.
JOIN, founded in 2020 by former professional cyclist Jim van den Berg, is an adaptive training app for cyclists. It offers over 400 structured workouts and personalised training plans that adjust based on performance and activity level.
Available in five languages, JOIN tracks fitness development, evaluates workouts, and integrates with platforms like Garmin, Wahoo, Strava, Zwift, and TrainingPeaks. Users can also connect a power meter or trainer to start workouts directly.
Aim of the acquisition
Relive and JOIN will continue to operate under their own labels while leveraging combined resources to drive growth and improve user experiences.
A new running training app is set to launch later this year. The long-term goal is to expand a portfolio of health and fitness apps through acquisitions and in-house development.
Lex Daniels, founder and CEO of Relive, says, “We are very excited about the acquisition of JOIN. The training plans in this app really help everyone to become a better cyclist.”
“The adaptive technology makes it possible to integrate training effortlessly into daily life, so that users can improve their performance, without the risk of overtraining. A product of such high quality deserves an international audience and that is what we are going to build together.”
Jim van den Berg, founder and CEO of JOIN, adds, “Relive is the perfect example of what technology and community can achieve together. There is therefore no other party we would rather work with.”
“This collaboration gives us the opportunity to reach a broader audience with JOIN and stimulate the love for cycling internationally while maintaining our personal character and coaching. Our shared passion for an active lifestyle and innovation allows us to build a unique portfolio of apps that help and inspire people worldwide to live a healthier and more adventurous life.”
Brief about Relive
Founded in 2016, Relive is an app that allows users to create and share 3D videos of their outdoor activities —like hiking, cycling, running, or any GPS-tracked activity— by transforming GPS data into visual stories.
With a global community of over 20 million users and more than one billion logged activities, Relive supports outdoor exploration.
Lex Daniels, founder and CEO, says, “Relive was founded on the belief that getting outdoors is the best way to live a healthy and happy life. We’ve built the best community for outdoor enthusiasts to share experiences with friends and family.”
“Along the way, we’ve learned that everyone’s journey differs – some seek inspiration for their next ride, others train for marathons, and some want to capture their mountain adventures.”
The company is supported by a team of 35 people across Europe.
