Vienna-based Round2 Capital, an investment firm with €125M in assets under management announced on Tuesday that it has provided a seven-figure revenue-based loan to German crowdtesting platform Testbirds.

With funding from Round2 Capital, the Munich-based company aims to expand its customer base and cement its position as the world’s leading crowdtesting provider.

Crowdtesting has become increasingly important in recent years as businesses strive to provide the best possible user experience for their digital products.

Testbirds: Crowdtesting provider

Founded in 2011 by Philipp Benkler, Georg Hansbauer, and Markus Steinhauser, Testbirds is a crowdtesting provider that helps clients improve their digital products by providing real user insights from its global community of testers.

The company’s comprehensive and adaptable crowdtesting services focus on the quality assurance and usability of digital products, and its clients include world-leading enterprises across various industries.

Testbirds claims to have over 1M real users who test on more than 1.5M real devices in their real environment.

By engaging a diverse group of testers globally, Testbirds provides valuable insights into how users interact with digital products in real-world scenarios.

This allows businesses to identify and address issues that may otherwise go unnoticed.

Georg Hansbauer, CEO of Testbirds, says, “We are very happy with the recent development of Testbirds, and we are excited about what we can achieve with the support of Round2 Capital. The funds will enable us to continue our growth trajectory and create even more value for our customers.”

Round2 Capital: Revenue-based finance

Since its founding in 2017, Round2 Capital says it has been pioneering revenue-based finance in Europe, and is active in several European countries with a focus on Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and the Nordic countries.

Round2 Capital is backed by the European Investment Fund (EIF) to support technology companies in the European Union.

Round2 Capital Partners II is partially funded under the so-called “Mezzanin Dachfonds für Deutschland Fazilität 2”, a facility managed by EIF for the ERP Sondervermögen, represented by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (“Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie”), LfA-Gesellschaft für Vermögensverwaltung mbH and NRW.Bank Anstalt des öffentlichen Rechts.

To date, Round2 Capital has invested in more than 26 different companies.

Stefan Nagel, Managing Partner at Round2 Capital, says, “We are impressed with Testbirds’ development over the past years and believe that revenue-based financing is perfectly suited to enable further growth. We are excited to partner with Testbirds and the existing investors and support their vision to become the leading crowdtesting provider worldwide.”
