Last update:

Last year, Scipio Capital, a Dutch investment company, together with Swanlaab Venture Factory SGEIC SA, a Spanish-Israeli VC management firm, launched a Scipio Swanlaab SF SCR — a fund that will invest in search funds globally.

Recently, the Scipio Swanlaab SF SCR fund announced its first closing with €10M from several institutional investors with extensive experience in this asset class. The fund has a target size of €25M and will invest in 30 searchers and complete 20 acquisitions.

Aitor Sancho, General Partner of Scipio, says, “We are honoured that investors who understand Search Funds, believe in the model, and have real experience acquiring companies through search have trusted us to act as an extension of their activity in this area. There is no greater vote of confidence than when an expert in a field decides to work with you in that field.”

Operating for six months now, the fund has already completed two strategic acquisitions in Italy and Australia.

The Scipio Swanlaab SF SCR fund’s focus is on buying SMEs that have good growth potential and are facing succession issues in Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Oceania, using a decentralised approach to find unique opportunities.

The second closing is expected within the next nine months, providing a window of opportunity for new investors who wish to participate in this attractive vehicle, managed by teams with proven experience and success.

“With the first closing completed and several acquisitions underway, the fund is already generating value for investors,” says the company in the press release.
