Delft-based SenseGlove, a company that enables touch interaction in VR, announced on Wednesday that it has secured fresh funding from Eindhoven-based investment fund Lumaux.
The funding amount has not been disclosed.
This investment from Lumaux comes at a time when virtual and augmented reality technologies are developing quickly and many believe could revolutionise a variety of sectors.
Tom Krieckaert, fund manager at Lumaux, says, “We are thrilled to announce our partnership with SenseGlove. We look forward to supporting SenseGlove as they continue to revolutionise the Virtual and Augmented reality landscape.”
Making the digital feel real
Founded in 2015 by Gijs den Butter and Johannes Luijten, SenseGlove is a high-tech scale-up that develops and produces wearable force and haptic feedback gloves. Unlike controllers, SenseGlove allows users to hold, push, touch, connect, and squeeze the virtual like it is real.
The Nova, the company’s latest glove, gives users force- and vibrotactile feedback. The Nova simulates the sensation of size and rigidity (force feedback) by imparting resistance through its magnetic friction brakes.
The Nova’s vibrotactile feedback allows it to simulate realistic button clicks, vibrations, and impacts simulations, which are essential for virtual reality training with tools and dashboards.
According to the company, this product advances the area of virtual reality and has demonstrated applications in a variety of fields, including telepresence, research, and teaching.
Currently, SenseGlove’s product is used to increase the effectiveness of virtual training for clients like Volkswagen, Airbus, Scania, Honda, Cambridge University, TNO, Fraunhofer, and Siemens, among others.
Capital utilisation
Frank Goovaerts, CEO of SenseGlove, says, “This investment will empower us to deploy our state-of-the-art haptic products worldwide and accelerate the development of hand haptics technology to enrich human capabilities and bring sense to Virtual and Augmented Reality.”
SenseGlove claims that its haptic gloves will provide users with a more natural and immersive way to interact with digital content, enriching the overall experience of the Metaverse.
