Last update:

Stuttgart-based Sereact, a company that aims to drive economic growth by closing automation gaps in intralogistics, has raised €25M in a Series A round of funding to accelerate the deployment of its Vision Language Action Models (VLAM) in robotics.

The round was led by Creandum, with participation from existing investors Point Nine and Air Street Capital, as well as prominent business angels, including former Formula 1 World Champion Nico Rosberg, Mehdi Ghissassi (ex-Google DeepMind), Ott Kaukver (Skype), Lars Nordwall, Torsten Reil, and Niklas Köhler.

Johan Brenner, general partner at Creandum, says, “Most AI robotics companies are currently hardware-first. What sets Sereact apart is their software-first, foundational approach which means they have the potential to become the brain of any robot that requires vision and autonomous capabilities. The opportunities here are endless and it’s great to see this kind of innovation coming from Europe.”

Embodied AI for robotics

AI advancements are driving robotics to new capabilities, allowing machines to perform complex tasks, adapt to environments, and transform industries like e-commerce and logistics. Robots now pick, pack, sort and manage inventory, boosting productivity and addressing labour shortages.

Sereact, founded in 2021, claims to lead in embodied AI with PickGPT, a solution combining zero-shot reasoning and natural language instructions. This enables rapid deployment and immediate cost benefits for users.

“With our technology, robots act situationally rather than following rigidly programmed sequences. They adapt to dynamic tasks in real-time, enabling an unprecedented level of autonomy,” says, Ralf Gulde, CEO and co-founder of Sereact.

Sereact began with warehouse automation and has gained commercial adoption with customers like BMW, Daimler Truck, Bol, and Active Ants. Its products create real-time data, allowing systems to learn and improve beyond those trained on synthetic data.

Capital utilisation

Sereact will use the funds to expand its R&D efforts, support additional robot hardware platforms, such as mobile robots and humanoids, and develop solutions for more complex tasks beyond logistics and manufacturing.

Sereact will also expand its presence in the US through partnerships and team growth.

Co-founder Ralf Gulde, says, “We’re on an exciting journey to become the leading platform for robotics applications that forever changes the daily lives of people and businesses. This oversubscribed round and our rapid technology progress enables us to democratise robotics and set new standards for autonomous systems in global markets.”

Brief about Sereact

Founded in 2021 by Ralf Gulde and Marc Tuscher, Sereact develops AI-powered robotics solutions for industries in the US and Europe.

Its AI software equips robots with visual and manipulation capabilities, allowing them to perceive their environment and perform a range of tasks.

The systems handle object manipulation, logistics, and manufacturing processes, analysing and solving unfamiliar situations in real time to enable anomaly detection, process optimisation, and improved efficiency for autonomous systems.
