Draijer, who was recognised as a self-made millionaire in tech by Quote magazine, disclosed his move through a LinkedIn post.

“We served thousands of clients, raised funding from Y Combinator and Leonardo DiCaprio, and built a platform that reshaped the industry,” says Draijer. “From a windowless room to warehouses in the heart of Barcelona. From cold calls on Saturday night to headlines in every major Spanish newspaper.”

Currently, Draijer plans to take a summer break.

While he has not disclosed details of his next venture, he confirmed that he will return to building with a strong focus on “hypergrowth, sharp execution, and strong mission.”

“’I’ve learned that belief beats certainty. Momentum beats perfection. I’m here for hypergrowth, strong mission, and sharp execution. I want to build where value is created fast, with clarity and focus,” he says.

Solarmente: Democratising solar energy

Wouter Draijier, a Dutch engineer and YesDelft alumnus, co-founded SolarMente in 2020 with Victor Gardrinier, a Canadian software developer.

Backed by Leonardo DiCaprio, Solarmente’s innovative subscription model removes the initial investment barrier, allowing users immediate access to solar energy’s benefits.

The subscription service includes the installation of solar panels and batteries, home electrification, and energy management.

Besides subscriptions, the Spanish company offers customers the ability to generate, store, and even sell their energy. It not only reduces electricity bills but also maximises energy savings for the users.

Additionally, the Spanish company also provides optional add-ons to the subscription, including battery systems, electric vehicle charging points, and even a heat pump system.

The company aims to install more than 10,000 photovoltaic systems in the coming years.
