Last update:

Developed in partnership with Annovating in The Hague, Rotterdam-based Somnox is developing an innovative robot to combat insomnia. To further develop the Somnox 2 Breathing & Sleeping Robot, the municipality of The Hague and the European Union will grant the companies €500K.

Together with The Hague University of Applied Sciences, Schuldenlab070, and with financial support from the municipality of The Hague and the European Union, the companies are working on an improved sleep robot to combat sleeping problems.

The project aims to provide the sleep robot with artificial intelligence to learn from previous results. This will enable it to combat sleep problems better every day.

As part of this project, it will be examined, among others, whether the robot can address social problems by reducing stress and providing good sleep.

The municipality of The Hague says, “Through the European Kansen voor West programme, The Hague has the opportunity to support concrete initiatives by companies working on special innovations. This subsidy scheme is a great opportunity for The Hague to increase the quality of life, in addition to stimulating innovation and employment.”

“We are therefore very curious about the further development of this innovative robot and its effect on sleeping problems. A good night’s sleep is important for good physical and mental health. This can be an important link in the approach to debt problems, for example.”

The project is expected to create new jobs for designers, engineers, mathematicians, and programmers in and around The Hague.
