London-based Spotted Zebra, a skills-based workforce management platform, announced that it has secured £7.7M (approximately €8.84M) in a Series A round of funding.
The investment was led by the pan-European VC firm Nauta Capital with participation from Act Venture Capital and existing investors Playfair and Entrepreneur First.
Capital utilisation
Spotted Zebra says it will use the money to further its mission of solving global skills crises. It will help the organisation in aligning 10 million individuals with opportunities at top employers by 2030.
The skills-gap crisis
The skills crisis, assessed at $11.5T (approximately €10.89B) and recognised as a significant global challenge by the World Economic Forum, ranks second only to climate change.
To address this issue, major companies are shifting to a model that prioritises skills over specific jobs in workforce management. This is where Spotted Zebra looks to make a difference.
Spotted Zebra claims to effectively bridge this gap, providing solutions for the skills-based transition.
The era of skills-based organisations
Founded in 2020 by Ian Monk and Nick Shaw, Spotted Zebra’s platform enables organisations to adopt a skills-based approach, incorporating best practices and data-driven decision-making into their core operations, showcasing the platform’s transformative capabilities.
The company specialises in applications spanning the entire talent lifecycle. From hiring and development to internal mobility, their applications prioritise skills, ensuring a comprehensive approach to managing talent within organisations.
Co-founder Ian Monk says, “Our core belief is that employees are happier and more productive when their unique skills – their superpowers – are aligned with roles that use and develop these talents.”
“Our platform is solving the skills crisis by aligning people with opportunities. We help our clients to quickly find the right candidates when looking externally, and by identifying those individuals most suitable for reskilling or succession when looking internally.”
“And more than that, we’re ensuring that employees go home feeling motivated and energised because their superpowers are being put to good use,” adds Monk.
According to assessments by Spotted Zebra, high performers reach competence 20 per cent faster and are two times more likely to be rated as top performers in their roles.
The company counts a number of FTSE100 companies as its clients.
