Swiss startup Microcaps secures €9.6M to advance its microencapsulation technology

Wagistrasse, Switzerland-based Microcaps AG, an innovator in advanced microencapsulation technology, announced on Wednesday that it has secured CHF 9.3M (approximately €9.6M) in a Series A round of funding.

This Series A round saw participation from new private investors, as well as contributions from Microcaps‘ existing shareholder base, including Helvetica Capital AG, Zürcher Kantonalbank, and the ETH Foundation.

The funding will enhance the company‘s production facilities and continue development efforts for applications beyond fragrance.

By increasing manufacturing capabilities, the Swiss company aims to ensure timely delivery of its ethanol-free Perfume Pearls to meet the surging demand.

This expansion will also support ongoing research and development efforts, beyond cosmetics and fine fragrance applications, ensuring the company remains at the forefront of microencapsulation technology.

Founded from ETH Zurich’s Complex Material Group, the company has developed a technology that enables the scalable production of precise microcapsules and microparticles based on microfluidics.
