London-based Toothfairy, a dental video calling app founded by dentists, announced a $10M (nearly €8.49M) funding round to address challenges in the dental industry.
The investment round was led by LBO France with participation from CRB Health Tech SGEIC and Portfolio Ventures. Existing investors, including Amsterdam’s Slingshot Ventures, Ada Ventures, and Haatch, increased their commitments.
Toothfairy mentions, “Although we have already achieved millions in revenue and hit profitability, our ambitions extend far beyond financial success. Our goal is to transform the dental industry, which is still burdened by waiting rooms, delayed diagnoses, and costly treatments.”
“With millions more raised, our goal to put a dentist in everyone’s pocket is stronger than ever.”
An on-demand access to dentists
Founded in 2019 by dentists Deepak Aulak and Kian Dhinsa, Toothfairy is a dental video calling app. It offers on-demand dental consultations through its app, allowing patients to connect with UK-licensed dentists for general advice, cosmetic consultations, prescription requests, and pain management.
The platform also supports consultations for braces and facial aesthetics, enabling patients to review treatment progress remotely.
The company says its app is the first dental application in the UK to receive healthcare regulator approval. Its internally developed, patent-pending technology supports diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patient care. Patients can use the platform to communicate with dentists, track treatment progress, and update medical records remotely.
All Toothfairy dentists hold licenses from the UK General Dental Council and are indemnified. They undergo regular audits and reviews.
The company’s model addresses challenges in NHS dentistry, where many patients face barriers to accessing timely care. By providing remote consultations, Toothfairy aims to support prevention, early detection, and treatment for patients across the UK.
