Last update:

Netherlands-based Tubber, a boat rental platform that provides the link between professional charter companies, private boat owners and charterers, announced that it has secured an undisclosed follow-up investment for growth.

With the raised capital, the Groningen-based scale-up claims it will increase its market share where it currently operates. Additionally, Tubber will also expand to the UK, Germany, and Scandinavia.

Investors in this round

Investor Marnix van der Ploeg, who was involved in the international success of Booking.com in more than 50 different markets, supports Tubberโ€™s rapid worldwide expansion.

Marnix van der Ploeg says, โ€œTubber has everything it takes to grow quickly internationally. As with Booking.com at the time, scalability and ambition are central to Tubber in all aspects of the company. And those two elements together form the ideal combination for rapid growth.โ€

Existing investors Move Fast Ventures and G-Force Capital also took part in the follow-on investment.

The Fund manager of G-Force Capital, Niek Huizenga, says, โ€œThe combination of a strong team and experienced investors will ensure that Tubber becomes the best platform for boat rental and unforgettable sailing holidaysโ€

About Tubber

Founded by Anne de Vries and currently led by CEO Tessa van der Valk, Tubbber connects professional charter firms, individual boat owners, and charterers.

The companyโ€™s platform is where both parties meet after quality control managers have inspected the boats. All boats, suppliers, and sailing areas are thoroughly inspected to ensure that customers get the finest sailing experience possible.

To provide financial security, all Tubbber boats are insured and guaranteed. Currently, Tubberโ€™s booking system, which has been active since 2010, has over 16,000 boats that can be booked in more than 750 destinations worldwide.

The Mediterranean Sea is the companyโ€™s primary focus, but boats are also accessible in the Caribbean, for example.

In a company statement translated from Dutch, CEO Tessa de Vries says, โ€œIn recent years, Tubber has grown into the absolute market leader in the Netherlands. Now it’s time to cross the border.โ€

โ€œWe have worked hard behind the scenes on the scalability of the organisation and the automation of processes, without compromising the customer experience and service.โ€

โ€œAfter the Corona period, the demand for our unique boating holidays has taken off enormously, also in other countries. Together with our team and thanks to these investors, we are more than ready to further accelerate our international growth.โ€
