The Hague-based UNIIQ, an investment fund focused on the proof-of-concept phase, announced on Thursday, that it has invested €350K in Bionomic, a Dutch agtech company.
The investment comes around a month after UNIIQ invested €2.5M in seven startups and signed a partnership with TNO, an independent organisation for applied research.
The seven startups, which also include Bionomic, are:
- iProtics
- Passionfruit
- Hypersoniq
- GEHECO
- Spatialise
- XS Innovations
Diederik Mud, CEO of Bionomic, says, “This investment will allow us to further validate our technology and scale up production capacity. Our mission is to provide farmers with an effective and sustainable alternative to the control of harmful plant pathogens.”
Bionomic: Providing environmentally friendly biopesticides
Based out of Oegstgeest, the Netherlands, Bionomic focuses on the development of environmentally friendly biopesticides.
Unlike traditional chemicals, which are often harmful to bees, soil life, and the aquatic ecosystem, the company’s biopesticides work specifically against plant pathogens such as Fusarium oxysporum.
The company uses natural, biodegradable components to help preserve biodiversity and prevent the build-up of harmful residues.
