Last update:

Groningen-based Cookinglife, a cooking store that offers an extensive range of kitchenware, announced on Monday that it has sold its minority stake to investment company Veams.

However, the Dutch company didn’t disclose the exact figures.

In a statement to Emerce, Sebastian Bakker, founder of Cooklinglife says, “We want to grow in our range of high-quality cooking items, expand the warehouse, and make progress with our automation. We could no longer do this alone.”

Bakker adds, “Next year we will be in existence for ten years, and with this step, we think we can continue to build in the coming decade. With Veams we also gain a lot of e-commerce knowledge and creativity. They have also already proven themselves internationally with the Wovar and Gadero web shops.”

Cookinglife: Online cooking store

Cookinglife operates as an online cooking store, offering a comprehensive selection of 20,000 products in cooking and dining, including handy kitchen utensils, crockery, cutlery, glassware, and more.

The extensive product range features renowned A-brands such as Le Creuset, Villeroy & Boch, BK, and Lampe Berger.

In addition to the online platform, Cookinglife has a physical presence in Almere, Groningen, Nijmegen, and Veenendaal and delivers online orders in seven countries, including the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and Austria.

As per the company’s claims, the store generates a turnover of almost €20M.

Henk Jan van Veams explains, “Sebastian Bakker from Cookinglife is truly a jack-of-all-trades and experienced entrepreneur. I’ve known him for over 12 years. That helps to understand each other well. He knows a lot about e-commerce and the cooking world, but is all-round and knows something about all facets of entrepreneurship! We expect to be able to help him with strategy, determining the range, and discussing all kinds of matters. It will be quite a job to continue to distinguish ourselves from the many suppliers in the cooking equipment market, from Hema to Temu. We are happy to take on that challenge with Sebastian. We will now first make a detailed plan for the future together.”
