Amsterdam-based ViaLuxury.com, an overcapacity booking solution for luxury hotels that provides customers with tailor-made luxury experiences, announced on Wednesday, January 25, that it has raised fresh funding. The funding amount has not been disclosed.

The investment came from new investors Limburg Technology Investment Fund and Genzai, an AI/Advanced ICT Investment and consulting firm.

Capital utilisation

ViaLuxury says it will use the funds to further develop its platform for existing and new users, as well as for international growth.

In the short term, the funding round will lead to an improvement of AI-based technology, enabling ViaLuxury to effectively match suitable hotel offerings with current and potential customers. This  is supported by an algorithm that delivers the most value for both hotel partners and consumers.

Additionally, onboarding for new hotel partners will improve, and AI will play an even bigger role in the scale-up’s marketing strategy.

Jan Wegenaar, founder and CEO of ViaLuxury, says, “With this, we continue to work on the development of our AI-based platform that automatically links the demand for special hotel experiences to the offer of overcapacity. This way we can offer even better-personalised hotel experiences and increase our scalability.”

ViaLuxury: Everything you need to know

The company was founded in 2019 by Jan Wegenaar as a Luxury Hotel Company and continued in May 2022 with a course for international expansion with a renewed platform and new name – ViaLuxury.

ViaLuxury is committed to AI to convert the overcapacity of four- and five-star hotels into revenue and to offer consumers the best deals and the “perfect” range of hotel experiences.

The platforms’ technology uses AI to forecast how much money hotels can make by selling their excess capacity to customers. With a fair price and a complete package that includes extras like meals and health, ViaLuxury delivers that overcapacity. This way, the website provides the finest discounts for stays at luxurious hotels.

Currently, the platform is available in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. More than 1,000 hotels are connected to the platform and the range will be expanded considerably this year.

ViaLuxury claims it witnessed a successful revenue year in 2022. For several well-known hotel brands, the platform has developed into a source of additional revenue. The Dutch company acts on the basis of a fair trade principle towards the hotel and the consumer.
