WeWork, the real estate company that provides shared workspaces, announced that WeWork On Demand, the company’s pay-as-you-go product that provides access to workspace and meeting rooms by the hour or day, is now available in select locations across Belgium, France, Germany, Poland, Spain, Sweden, The Czech Republic, The Netherlands, and three additional locations in Canada. This expands the product to 39 additional locations.

The news follows the company’s recently raised $150M (then, approx €129.57M) in November, 2021, from Cushman & Wakefield, a real estate services firm that offers agency leasing, tenant representation, and investment management services.

Boosting the new ways of working across Europe and Canada

With the recent shifts towards flexible or hybrid work models, WeWork launched WeWork On Demand in New York City in 2020 and has since expanded the product to 64 markets around the world.

With the company’s offering, users can choose how they work by booking available workspaces through WeWork’s app, without any  long-term commitment. As a result of this expansion, users can also leverage WeWork On Demand at 39 additional locations across 14 cities, growing the total number of On Demand accessible locations to more than 300 globally.

Samit Chopra, President and COO of WeWork, says, “The world of work has transformed dramatically over the past two years, accelerating workforce trends and behaviours that would have otherwise taken decades. WeWork On Demand helps address the growing interest of accessing ‘third spaces’ between home and office, with dedicated and inspiring workspace and meeting colleagues on-the-go, without a long-term commitment.”

According to the company, with WeWork On Demand’s first expansion in 2021, international bookings show that 84 per cent of users are utilising the product to find a dedicated workspace, in addition to arranging in-person meetings or securing rooms, to collaborate with their teams.

This second expansion reflects WeWork On Demand’s global growth, showing the increasing need for individuals to access workspaces around the world.
