Amsterdam unicorn Bird, a cloud communications platform is leaving the Netherlands and opening new global hubs.
The announcement was made by Robert Vis, founder & CEO of Bird through a LinkedIn post.
“After 14 years of proud Dutch heritage and operations in the Netherlands, we’re embarking on an exciting new chapter. Bird is strategically consolidating our operations to six key global destinations while moving to office presence in these locations,” says Vis.
This strategic move comes seven months after Vis announced his departure from the Netherlands in search of a more supportive environment for entrepreneurship and innovation.
Bird: Back to office
Bird is also moving away from remote work and returning to office-based collaboration, confirms Vis.
“This isn’t just a change in location – it’s an evolution in how we operate,” concludes Vis.
The company will now operate from six key locations worldwide:
- United States (New York, San Francisco, Austin) – Americas Headquarters
- Singapore – Asia Pacific Hub
- Dubai – Middle East & Africa Hub
- Lithuania – Financial Innovation Hub
- Istanbul, Turkey – European Innovation Hub
- Thailand – Meditation, Rejuvenation, and Health Centre
“While we’re scaling down our Netherlands operations, our Dutch DNA remains at the heart of our global approach – innovative, direct, and always forward-thinking,” he adds.
Vis claims that the company’s Bird Box product has gained global popularity, and its core services handle over 5T customer interactions per year through email and SMS.
“While we’re emphasizing in-person collaboration at our hubs, part of our workforce will continue to work remotely, ensuring we maintain access to exceptional expertise across the globe while building strong core teams at our physical locations,” he continues.
