Amsterdam-based unicorn DataSnipper, an automation platform focused on audit and finance, announced a partnership with Microsoft to introduce AI agents into the audit space, fundamentally changing the way professionals work.

The announcement comes eight months after the company won the 25th edition of Deloitte Technology Fast 50 2024. The Dutch company took the top spot with revenue growth of 6715 per cent.

Embedded into the audit workflow

According to the unicorn, the AI agents will be embedded directly into audit workflows to accelerate productivity, eliminate repetition, and accelerate reviews.

They will be designed specifically for the demands of audit and finance and function as teammates, not tools.

“The promise of AI agents in audit and finance is immense, and we’re incredibly excited about what we’re building together with Microsoft,” says Vidya Peters, CEO of DataSnipper. “This will be a major leap forward in the future of agentic AI for the sector, elevating how regulated teams think, work, and deliver.”

DataSnipper says that the AI agent will operate as a layer across DataSnipper’s features, allowing users to ask questions throughout the workflow, such as:

  • “What evidence do I need to collect to perform a SOC2 user access control?”
  • “Can you extract the right evidence related to the SOC2 control and match it to my sample list?”

“As the ecosystem of agentic commerce execution evolves, software development must evolve with it,” said Thilo Richter, VP of Product & Engineering at DataSnipper. “With DataSnipper Agents running on Azure, we want to empower auditors with agents that work alongside them to automate critical audit tasks.”

This focus on agentic AI comes at a time when customer demand for AI-powered workflows is rapidly growing.

According to the company’s claims, 58 per cent of its new customers now favour packages with AI products, demonstrating strong momentum and providing a clear foundation for further investment in Agent capabilities.

“This new partnership announcement with DataSnipper reflects our commitment to delivering specialised AI solutions that drive productivity and intelligent automation in complex, high-trust environments,” says Adir Ron, Cloud & AI Director for Startups in EMEA at Microsoft. “By joining forces and leveraging the strength of Microsoft Azure, we are enabling a new class of AI agents that streamline critical audit processes, integrate naturally into enterprise workflows.’’
