In today’s world, small and mid-sized companies (SMEs) struggle to manage their supply chains efficiently. It often stems from the lack of knowledge necessary to understand how to transform their supply chains.

The tools and systems used by large corporations are often too expensive or complex for them.

They may require complicated change management programs, outside consultants to get started and much more. As a result, it leads to wasted time and poor visibility across operations.

Amstelveen-based OAASIS aims to change that.

In this edition of “New Kid On The Block, we spoke to Wouter Samama, CEO and co-founder of OAASIS, to learn more about how the company is redefining supply chain optimisation for small and mid-sized businesses.

Fix and transform supply chains

Dutch entrepreneurs Wouter Samama and Lucas Koster, who have held supply chain roles at companies including P&G and Kraft Heinz, founded OAASIS in 2024.

“We spent our careers in large multinationals, and one thing became very clear — to truly fix and transform supply chains, you need more than just technology, you need advanced software, great people, and robust processes,” says Samama.

Over their careers, the founding duo have worked on supply chain projects across LatAm, EMEA, and APAC, focusing on analysing and improving operations.

“Initially, we wanted to build a company that could offer world-class planning support, great people running great processes, and we searched for software to partner with. When we couldn’t find a solution that met our needs at the right price point, we decided to develop it ourselves,” he explains.

“We realised that many smaller organisations faced the same challenges but without the tools to fix them. OAASIS was born to give them that capability,” he adds.

OAASIS brings enterprise-level supply chain optimisation and management capabilities to SMEs in the consumer goods sector.

Optimising supply chains for SMEs through AI

OAASIS offers an all-in-one solution to optimise supply chains, designed specifically for small and mid-market companies in the consumer goods sector.

“Our mission is to help small and mid-market organisations perform at a level that allows them to compete with the biggest players. In doing so, we reduce waste; not only financial waste but also environmental impact, helping companies operate more sustainably,” adds Samama.

The company does this through software powered by machine learning models and advanced MILP solvers.

“What also differentiates us is that we combine software and expert services under one roof. That combination of technology, process, and people is unique,” explains Samama.

According to the company, the AI assists them in supporting and validating the work of supply chain experts.

They also employ AI scrapers to gather additional information from both the tool and external sources, enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of their team.

No IT background needed

The company’s platform can be easily integrated with existing systems without requiring much IT background. It can access current data, including from Excel files, and automate those connections.

“The manual planning sheets companies use today are replaced by our tool, which embeds those same processes in a far more efficient and controlled environment. It’s a complete, all-in-one platform that helps optimise every key decision across your supply chain,” he explains.

Additionally, the software is AI-driven, simple to use, quick to implement, and affordable – delivering an average ROI of 300 per cent or more.

“Our vision is to become the global benchmark for supply chain excellence – the trusted standard for accessible, intelligent supply chain optimisation,” states Samama.

Client’s feedback, providing visibility and much more

Currently, OAASIS works with various clients, including e-Luscious, Marcel’s Green Soap, Senza Tea, The Nice Company and Élala.

Notably, the company’s software is currently in the early stages of product launch.

Samama cites an example that one of their beta clients (name undisclosed) has a complex supply chain characterised by long lead times and a challenging product mix.

“If they order the wrong mix, it impacts their cash flow for months as they have to place their next order sooner,” he explains.

However, by validating the client’s forecasts and mapping the entire supply chain through the company’s software, the team improved both accuracy and timing.

This led to a 20–30 per cent improvement in cash position, as well as enhanced service and cost performance overall, claims the company.

The total return on investment (ROI) was nearly 1,000 per cent, with a payback period of about one month.

“These kinds of results are consistent with what we’ve seen in our previous roles at Kraft Heinz and Procter & Gamble: higher service levels, lower costs, and inventory reductions of 10–30%, all of which have a direct impact on the bottom line,” he reveals.

In addition to financial results, OAASIS helps clients by providing visibility into their supply chains, allowing them to focus on processes that truly add value.

“You start looking at other areas in your supply chain and possibilities in your supply chain and doing what-if scenarios, and you directly get gains on it. So it’s control, visibility, trust, and no issues over backup periods if you have our services,” he describes.

Funding, hiring and expansion

Last month, OAASIS raised €2.9M in funding to grow its platform and expand its team to 11 members.

“We only hire the best- people who are open-minded, curious, and committed to continuous improvement. But we also believe work should be enjoyable,” says Samama. “We always overdeliver for our clients, but we also know how to keep things fun and positive. It’s serious where it needs to be, and playful where it can be,”

With the funds, OAASIS will focus on expanding within the Benelux, with plans to enter the UK, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland within two years, followed by broader European and international growth.

“We already have promising prospects in both the UK and Germany, and I’m confident we can serve them well. But to scale properly, we’ll establish entities in those countries to ensure we’re embedded in the local market and infrastructure,” he adds.

Going beyond supply chain?

According to Samama, the company has a laser-sharp focus on supply chain management at the moment.

However, he recognises clear opportunities for expansion into adjacent areas such as Revenue Growth Management (RGM) and Trade Promotion Management (TPM).

“We’ll also go deeper into factory scheduling and explore procurement optimisation- areas where demand for smarter, more accessible tools is growing rapidly,” he adds.

Future plans

“We aim to become the trusted global supply chain solution for small and mid-sized businesses,” he states.

In the next few years, OAASIS plans to establish operational service centres on three continents — Europe, Asia, and Latin America to ensure full-time zone coverage.

Additionally, the company is planning to explore opportunities for expansion into the Asia Pacific region, Africa, and North America.

“In the short term, our focus is clear: perfect the product, deliver exceptional results for our clients, and then scale fast.  We’ve led teams of over a thousand people in global roles, so we know what it takes to grow responsibly and ambitiously,” Samama concludes.
