The vast majority of self-employed professionals in the Netherlands are at risk since they are not insured against occupational disability.

On top of that, finding the right disability insurance and wading through the options available is time-consuming.

A recent CBS2 study shows that many self-employed professionals don’t have disability insurance because they think it costs too much, and they underestimate their financial risks.

There needs to be a solution to reduce complexity, simplify and speed up the process.

And here’s where Insify comes into play!

Insify: Transforming business insurance

Founded by former Bloomon and Rocket Internet executive Koen Thijssen in 2020, Insify aims to transform business insurance by making it simpler, faster, and more affordable for entrepreneurs and SMEs.

The company has developed an intuitive end-to-end digital insurance platform designed specifically for Europe’s entrepreneurs and SMEs.

The platform allows SMEs to receive a business insurance quote in two minutes rather than weeks or months.

The company’s technology uses data to make onboarding faster and coverage more accurate, minimising paperwork and reducing the risk of gaps in protection.

Introducing Insify SmartGuide

The Dutch startup has launched Insify SmartGuide, the first AI-driven insurance tool that helps users choose the right disability insurance.

This tool makes the complicated insurance process simple and clear, allowing busy entrepreneurs to protect themselves and their businesses while saving time.

As a result, Insify’s latest innovation will allow entrepreneurs to spend time doing what they do best: business.

The announcement comes as the Dutch government is discussing the potential introduction of mandatory disability insurance by 2030. However, for now, it remains voluntary.

Although 64 per cent of self-employed professionals will only be motivated to obtain disability insurance if it becomes mandatory, taking action now will reduce stress, minimise risk, and likely reduce costs long term.

Those taking early action to date are often those experiencing changing circumstances in their worklives, with reasons for taking out disability insurance including: older age (37 per cent), higher income (33 per cent), and when buying a house (28 per cent)

How does it work?

The company’s AI tool transforms how entrepreneurs arrange their disability insurance.

Instead of filling in endless forms, they can now build their disability insurance through a simple conversation.

The guide answers questions instantly in clear, everyday language, explaining what each term or choice means.

As entrepreneurs interact, Insify SmartGuide adjusts coverage and pricing in real time, reflecting their needs and preferences. Once everything is clear, they can confirm their insurance with a single click.

““Entrepreneurs face enough uncertainty; understanding insurance shouldn’t be one of them,” says Koen Thijssen, CEO and founder of Insify. “With Insify SmartGuide we bring simplicity to a complex process by offering hyper-personalised, online guidance that gives entrepreneurs the clarity and confidence to choose the coverage that truly fits their situation.”
