Last update:

Amsterdam-based Getplace.io, a proptech B2B SaaS startup, announced on Wednesday that it has raised an undisclosed amount in the Pre-Seed round of funding from early-stage venture capital firm Antler.

With funding from Antler, Getplace.io says it is entering the UK market and expanding its product selection.

“The UK was selected as our first market given its size and one of the founders being located there. We are already looking into expanding to other European markets,” says Denis Chernobaev, Getplace.io Co-Founder and CEO.

Why Getplace.io?

Despite the decrease in physical stores during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, brick-and-mortar stores still play a crucial role.

The success of a physical store largely depends on its location. However, determining the ideal location for a store is more of an art than a science due to the lack of data.

Companies must consider accessibility, visibility, traffic, competition, neighbours, and location costs.

Without extensive data and processing power for analysis, it’s nearly impossible to do this effectively.

Here’s where Getplace.io comes into play.

Denis Chernobaev, Getplace.io Co-Founder and CEO, says, “For the past six years of my life, I was driving a fast-growing food-tech startup as a member of the leadership team. We opened more than 900 stores in 16 countries and gained a lot of experience in finding the best location for the new stores.“

Getplace.io: Helps make accurate decisions

Founded by Denis Chernobaev and Sergey Scherbak in 2023, Getplace.io provides small and medium-sized companies with the data needed to make accurate decisions for the location of their brick-and-mortar stores.

“Now, with Getplace.io, we want to empower these other small and medium-sized businesses to make more strategic data-driven decisions that set them up for success right from the beginning”, adds Chernobaev.

To provide the most comprehensive data for its customers, Getplace.io combines different data sets, including footfall, vehicle traffic, demographics, financial insights, competition level, and many others.

They already have two products on the market:

  • The first one focuses on comparing the opportunities between different locations of the business
  • Second is a heatmap of pedestrian traffic in the UK

Solving ‘real’ problem

Antler is an early-stage venture capital firm that wants to create thousands of companies globally that solve ‘real’ problems.

Antler partners with people across six continents and in 25 cities to launch and scale high-potential startups that address meaningful opportunities and challenges.

Antler has invested in and helped build over 600 companies across a wide range of industries and technologies, and plans to back more than 6,000 by 2030.

“The Getplace.io team brings together a great combination of deep industry knowledge, an agile ‘can do’ mentality, and amazing technical capabilities. Antler is pleased to be the first investor in the company that empowers traditional brick and mortar store owners with new age online tools that leverage vast amounts of data to expand their business to today’s market demands”, says Ronald Jan Schuurs, Partner at Antler.
