Anderlecht-based Fyteko, a Belgian agritech company, has raised €13M in a Series B funding round to expand its sustainable biosolutions for agriculture.
The investment was led by Crédit Mutuel Impact, with participation from SFPIM, Supernova Invest, IMBC, and other financial backers, including finance&invest.brussels, EIT Food, and the Innovation Fund.
Fyteko specialises in science-driven agricultural solutions aimed at enhancing climate resilience in crop production. The funding will support the company’s scale-up efforts as demand for sustainable farming practices continues to grow.
“We see a future where the world’s farmers can feed a growing population, using safe and sustainable inputs,” says Fyteko.
Sustainable agriculture innovation
Founded in 2014 by bio-entrepreneurs Guillaume Wegria and Dr Juan Carlos Cabrera, Fyteko has developed a patented enzymatic synthesis technology using biosourced molecules to create biostimulants, herbicide enhancers, and biopesticides.
Its solutions aim to improve crop yields, optimise land use, and support sustainable agriculture while helping farms adapt to climate change and preserve biodiversity.
After years of research, Fyteko has conducted over 500 field trials, filed six patent families, and in 2024 treated more than 500,000 hectares, enhancing drought tolerance and productivity.
As part of its research efforts, the company participated in the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme, securing funding for a two-year project launched in 2020. This initiative supported field trials in eight EU countries, enhanced product formulation, and scaled up production, contributing to Fyteko’s full European launch in 2023.
Currently, Fyteko’s team of over 20 experts are focused on developing innovative approaches to support the global transition to climate-smart agriculture.
Fyteko’s products
Fyteko’s key bio-based agricultural solutions include:
- Nurspray – A foliar biostimulant that enhances crop resilience to drought, temperature extremes, and erratic rainfall. Effective within 24 hours, it works preventatively and is compatible with fertilisers and crop protection products.
- Nurseed – A seed treatment biostimulant designed to support seedling establishment under stress conditions. It promotes strong early growth and is suitable for use in crops like soybeans, peas, beans, and maize.
- Nursoil – A soil-drench biostimulant that uses a single signal molecule to activate a plant’s natural defence mechanism. This enhances the crop’s ability to tolerate and recover from abiotic stresses like drought, temperature extremes, and irregular rainfall.
These solutions help farmers optimise yields, adapt to climate change, and reduce reliance on chemical inputs.
