CES 2020 – the Consumer Electronic Show has shown us some world’s most significant and latest technological advancement in various fields. Among others, Smart home devices garnered huge attention with smart locks, smart home systems, automatic wheels that organise furniture, and much more. 

The variety of smart home gadget that was displayed at the event has shown that space has plenty of room for innovation. At present, there are lots of best smart home tech products available, but we have listed a few from European companies that were a bit more innovative.

Hydraloop’s in-house water recycling system

Hydraloop won the Best of Innovation in Sustainability, Eco-Design, and Smart Energy at CES 2020 in Las Vegas. This Dutch company aims to empower people to save water and energy by offering smart and affordable water recycling products. 

Hydraloop is a certified innovative in-house water recycling system that collects bathroom and washing machine water and cleans and disinfects it, herewith saving water by recycling 85% of total in-house domestic water used. It is clean, clear, and safe and meets international standards.

Personalised perfumes with digitally mix scented oils

French startup Artiris took the wraps of smart scent diffuser at CES 2020 in Las Vegas. As per the company claims, it can digitally mix scented oils, thereby offering personalised perfumes. 

For the uninitiated, Compoz is a small box with an attached fan that can hold up to five scented oil pods at once. It has 25 different smells to choose from, including patchouli, vanilla, and mandarin, among others.

Reliable protection against burglary and fire

Bosch Smart Home alarm system offers reliable protection against burglary and fire. In the event of an alarm, it notifies residents directly onsite via audible signals and also provides remote notification by sending a live image to the user’s smartphone. 

In the event of a fire, all networked roller shutters are automatically opened to quickly assure that escape and rescue routes are clear and unobstructed. It triggers red Philips Hue lamps to begin flashing and automatically lights up all lamps that are integrated via flush-mounted light switches.

Optimise your room temperature

Bosch Smart Home presents the room thermostat for optimizing room temperature. Thanks to its wireless power supply and radio connection, the room thermostat can be conveniently installed anywhere in the room. In addition, the room thermostat will soon also be able to control electric radiators connected via adapter plugs.

Unlock the door with a pattern of light pulses

Based out of France, the company called Havr has created BrightLock, the first smart lock that unlocks the door by recognising a pattern of light pulses fired from a smartphone’s flash. It’s worth mentioning that the light-based code can be shared with friends and family easily.

Rearranging furniture indoors is now easy

This Norwegian startup Wheel.me wants to make rearranging furniture indoors possible only through voice command or the touch of an app’s button. As a result, the company has built robotic wheels, which can be attached to the base of chairs, tables, and other furnishings.

Lock your door with physical NFC Smart Keys

French accessory maker Netatmo announced a Smart Door Lock that can be used with physical NFC Smart Keys. It comes with three pre-paired keys that can be inserted into the lock and rotated as usual. The lock and keys use NFC and Bluetooth, and the access authorisations and identification for each key are locally stored. Notably, a single key can be configured to unlock several such smart door locks from Netatmo in the same home.

Bathroom mat that delivers the body metrics and tailored advice

Founded in 2019, Mateo aims to change the way people capture and understand their health data. The Mateo Bathroom Mat was showcased on the CES 2020 and has been named a CES 2020 Innovation Awards Honoree in the Health & Wellness Category.

Thanks to its unique 7000 dot-pressure mappings, Mateo recognizes each registered user or family member and delivers the body metrics and tailored advice via a companion app that can be accessed from a smartphone or a connected mirror. The app provides easy access to each user’s history along with relevant dietary recommendations and personalized exercises to help improve posture.
