Amsterdam-based Omnimap, an online platform that offers low-code integrated business technology and business process automation, announced in April that it raised €3M in a fresh round of funding led by Secondstage Ventures.

Amsterdam-based Secondstage Ventures is a tech fund targeting early-stage SaaS ventures with a B2B focus. The Fund steps into the initial startup phase and invests in enterprises that have a maximum score in the firm’s “Three T Evaluation”: best-in-class Technology, intrinsic Traction (so not induced by extensive marketing), and an experienced and highly talented Team. The firm says, “with our hands-on approach, we invest our experience and network as much as our cash.”

Aelwyn Hettinga, CEO of Omnimap, says, “At Omnimap we are delighted to have Secondstage Ventures as a new investor for the next growth phase. Secondstage understands the endless possibilities that a horizontal approach of business automation brings. Being successful founders themselves they can advise us in shaping the organisation for the next phase of growth.”

Capital utilisation

Omnimap says that the proceeds from this round will enable the company to accelerate growth and make its enterprise-ready low-code platform accessible to more organisations. The funds would allow it to expand its rapidly increasing partner network and Citizen Developer community.

Since its commercial launch in 2017, the company has been able to develop a successful business with triple-digit year-over-year growth. This round of investment, which brings in the first investors, will allow Omnimap to extend vertical solutions and accelerate expansion through the partner channel, to help partners create innovative value propositions on the Omnimap platform.

To make technology work for people

Founded in 2013 by Aelwyn Hettinga and Johan van Kampen, Omnimap believes in a world enriched by connected ecosystems, where technology is working for people, not vice versa.

The company says that in many organisations, processes are inefficient and difficult because they are isolated, poorly interconnected, and frequently duplicated. As a result, there is a loss of efficiency and a lack of insights. The Omnimap platform, which is based on a shared software foundation, blends old with new cloud technology, allowing for “state-of-the-art” technological solutions, claims the company.

The platform claims to save customers time and money by providing them with a low-code innovation that enables them to harmonise technology and streamline business processes across the value chain.

Jeroen Thijs, director at Secondstage Ventures, says “Omnimap ticks all the boxes for us: excellent technology, outstanding (and experienced) team and solving a real market issue. Omnimap has a strong foothold in the hyper-automation landscape, enabling medium and large organisations to develop their own business applications – without the need for highly skilled developers and without the headache of endless system integrations. This is the solution for future conscious customers.”

Built on Microsoft Azure, a cloud computing service for application management via Microsoft-managed data centres, Omnimap continuously adds new low-code functionality and provides managed access to external APIs. Subscriptions from the company enable startups, scale-ups, and legacy businesses to control innovation power in a sustainable and safe manner – in a fraction of the time and for a fraction of the expense while being compliant and future-proof.
