Last update:

For the longest of times, there was no competitor who could go toe to toe with the media streaming giant Netflix. However, back in 2017, Disney announced that it will launch its own streaming service and one year later, Disney+ was announced. The service initially rolled out for users in the US,  Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and The Netherlands last year. Now, it’s impending UK and Europe launch has been moved up a week.

The UK and parts of Europe to get Disney+ early!

Disney+ streaming service was initially slated to launch on March 31, 2020 in the UK and other Western European regions. In a new development, Walt Disney Company’s DTCI (Direct-to-Consumer and International) segment announced that the service will be made available a week early, on March 24. The initial European roll out of the service will cover the UK, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Switzerland.

Subscription price confirmed at €6.99 per month

Disney had already confirmed pricing of its streaming service in the Netherlands. The same subscription price of £5.99/€6.99 per month, or £59.99/€69.99, is being set for all regions where it will soon be available.

All your favourite shows, at one place

The biggest advantage Disney+ has over the competition is the inclusion of a wide variety of content. Disney+ features content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and more. In addition, the company has assured that the service will be available on nearly all major mobile and connected TV devices at launch with global distribution agreements already in place with Apple, Google, Microsoft, Roku, and Sony.

As Disney+ rolls out in the UK and other European regions, users will finally be able to enjoy Disney’s original content. These original shows include The hit Star Wars TV show The Mandalorian, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, a live action version of Lady and the Tramp, and The World According to Jeff Goldblum.

Belgium, the Nordics, and Portugal to get Disney+ in Summer 2020

In its official announcement, Disney has also announced that western Europe markets, including Belgium, the Nordics, and Portugal, will be able to tune into the service in summer 2020.
