Dutch startup Skytools bags funding from Japanese firm Terra Drone to build largest drone hub

Based out of Heinenoord, Skytools supplies advanced drone solutions to corporate customers and governments. The company has secured a capital investment from Terra Drone, a Japanese drone hardware and software company.ย 

What’s the partnership about?ย 

While the financial details were not disclosed, both the company aims to build the largest drone hub in Europe in Rotterdam. The drone hub includes a training center and research and development facilities. Survey, inspection or surveillance services are being further developed in collaboration with Terra Drone Europe and Terra Inspectioneering, with multiple locations in the Netherlands.

Marko van Es, CEO of Skytools, says: โ€œBy working closely with the Terra Drone Group from our office near Rotterdam, we can offer our customers a strong partner in the field of drones. For Skytools, this collaboration means that we can look beyond the Dutch borders and expand our high service level not only in the Netherlands but also on a European and global scale. โ€

Furthermore, the company will also begin supplying military-grade fixed-wing drones from C-Astral, a Terra Drone Group company in Slovenia. In addition, the focus will be on expanding the company across Europe and collaborating with the Terra Drone group companies around the world.

Supplies range of professional drone equipment

Skytools supplies a wide range of professional drone equipment in combination with advice, training, and maintenance. The Dutch company also serves a wide variety of corporate clients in industries such as oil and gas, chemicals, engineering, utilities, as well as a wide variety of governments. 

Together with its partners, Skytools is working within the new European rules and regulations of EASA on the accelerated introduction of BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Site) and night flights.

Based on 12 years of experience in the drone industry, Skytools supports customers with the implementation of drone-based solutions to improve safety, efficiency, and productivity.
