Last update:

EclecticIQ, a Dutch provider of global cyber threat intelligence technology platform, today announced the closing of a series B investment round of €14M. Keen Venture Partners led the round, joining existing investors like KPN Ventures and INKEF. This investment makes EclecticIQ one of the best-funded cybersecurity scale-ups in Europe. It will also enable the company to expand its workforce and its total offering of technologies and capabilities.

Background

In May 2016, KPN Ventures and INKEF led a series A investment of €5.5M in the company. The total investment in the company has now reached well over €20M. EclecticIQ was founded in 2014, consisting of a team of 60 skilled employees. The company has also already grown internationally, as it has offices in Amsterdam, London, and Herndon (Virginia, USA). Also, EclecticIQ won the Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 Rising Star Award in 2016, becoming “the most disruptive innovator”.

The growing significance of cyber threat intelligence

Previously, threat intelligence capabilities were only found at organizations like the government and regulated industries such as banking. Threat intelligence is a subject that many companies are becoming increasingly interested in. But although the field is getting more important, a lot of organizations report having trouble finding threat analysts. And even if organizations find them, they generally lack staff expertise. EclecticIQ supports dedicated teams of threat analysts working continuously to de-risk an organization’s cyber profile, by building an accurate picture of its cyber threat landscape. For instance, advanced attacks on mainstream media and the emergence of new regulation requirements like the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) make this subject more important by the day.

Kick-starting your threat intelligence activity

To make cyber threat intelligence more accessible to those companies with less capabilities, EclecticIQ will further develop its product portfolio. As a first step, the company has announced its EclecticIQ Fusion Center Intelligence Essentials. The pack is offered online, includes a free trial and can be used without any complex setup. It will help the organization that are having difficulties, as EclecticIQ states, “kick-start their threat intelligence activity”. Eventually, the company aims to make cyber threat intelligence accessible to all organizations, at any level of cyber readiness.
