Founded by Bart Jacobsz Rosier, and Marijn Flipse in 2014, Etergo (formerly Bolt Mobility) received €10 million from a German automotive specialist. Furthermore, the startup will be using this investment to set up the large-scale production for the Appscooter, the first model of Etergo.
As per the company claims, Etergo will be on the Dutch and German roads around the second half of 2019. This startup aims to deliver all the Europeans with a scooter of their choice. In total, Etergo secured €5 million from crowdfunding in 2017.
A few months back, Amsterdam-based Bolt Mobility has renamed themselves Etergo and showcased the final variant of their electric scooter named AppScooter. According to Co-founder Bart, Bolt’s name needed to change due to legal reasons.
This e-scooter has a 7-inch LED touchscreen display and a 60L storage space. It can accelerate up to 45kmph in less than four seconds and its battery can run up to 240 km.
This e-scooter has handlebar controls to take calls and stream music without pulling out the smartphone. It is the world’s first scooter to run Android apps. It has inbuilt GPS and access to 4G connectivity in its cockpit. It comes with electronically controlled locks. The ultimate purpose of this e-scooter is to minimize distractions while travelling.
In addition to it, Mobile Etergo Service Vans with experts trained in repairing the AppScooter will provide regular maintenance and location support. The Dutch automotive startup is also planning to open pre-orders in Asia in the upcoming days.
CEO and co-founder Bart Jacobsz Rosier, said:
With this investment, we got more than just capital. With the knowledge and expertise of our investor in the field of automotive and service, we can roll out the best service network in Europe. We will use the new capital and knowledge to produce an alternative for the air-polluting, recyclable petrol scooter on a large scale. First in the Netherlands and Germany, soon after that Etergo will introduce the AppScooter in other countries.
