Last update:

Hamburg-based Elea, an AI platform for healthcare professionals, has raised €4M from Fly Ventures and Giant Ventures.

The company also announced a partnership with one of Germany’s largest MVZ (Medizinische Versorgungszentrum) hospital groups. The funding and partnership aim to enhance diagnostic and care capabilities in the healthcare sector.

Gabriel Matuschka, Partner at Fly Ventures, says, “AI has been promising to shift the dial in terms of healthcare efficiency and patient care for years, but challenges remain, and, in some areas, are worsening.”

“Elea stands out by delivering an intuitive, deeply integrated AI-first system that not only spans workflows but can scale with speed and precision. It’s a genuine AI agent that frees clinicians up to spend more time with patients and has become the trusted partner of choice to leading hospital groups.”

Automating healthcare provider workflows

Elea, an AI operating system, is designed to address challenges in global healthcare, including staff shortages, clinician burnout, rising demand, and administrative workload.

The system integrates with existing healthcare platforms, using voice recognition and conversational AI to assist with tasks such as drafting diagnoses and generating reports.

Currently, healthcare professionals spend 40 per cent of their time on administrative work. Elea aims to reduce this burden, allowing clinicians to focus more on patient care.

Launched in 2024, the company’s AI-first operating system has reduced diagnosis times from weeks to hours and processes over 70,000 cases annually for one of Germany’s largest hospital groups.

According to Elea, clinicians can now validate reports and issue them to patients quickly, allowing for faster treatment.

The company was founded by a team with experience in AI and healthcare. CEO Dr. Christoph Schröder previously worked on AI and autonomous driving at Luminar, Mercedes, and Bosch. CMO Dr. Sebastian Casu has over a decade of experience in intensive care, anesthesiology, and emergency medicine. Co-founders Tobias Lygren and Stephan Frank, along with engineering and healthcare teams, contribute to the platform’s development.

Capital utilisation

Elea is scaling its platform department by department, starting with pathology. The company will also use the funds to extend its reach and expand into additional hospital departments.

Dr Casu, co-founder of Elea, says, “No-one joins the healthcare sector to spend hours on admin; we’re driven by our desire to help people. Yet today’s systems, even the add-on solutions that promise to help, fall short. Clinicians’ hands remain tied, and our patients miss out.”

“With Elea, we’re proving technology can be an ally, not an obstacle, and can finally bring the power of this technology to achieve better patient outcomes and, ultimately, save lives.”
