Amsterdam-based Invest-NL, a national financing and development institution, announced on Tuesday that it is investing €5M in the VCC Deep Tech Fund, managed by Value Creation Capital (VCC).

This fund focuses on promising sectors such as advanced optics, artificial intelligence, and nanotechnology.

The VCC Deep Tech Fund is in line with Invest-NL’s strategy to support early-stage venture capital funds led by entrepreneurial managers in the Dutch high-tech and deep-tech network.

Additionally, VCC has strong connections with other funds, such as Forward. One, in which Invest-NL also invests through the Dutch Future Fund 1.

Nicolaas Heij, Senior Investment Manager at Invest-NL, says, “By participating in the VCC Deep Tech Fund, we are strengthening the innovation capacity and future earning potential of the Netherlands. The Dutch ecosystem of high-tech companies has limited access to capital. With this step, we are providing deep tech companies with the necessary funding to develop advanced technologies that can offer solutions to societal challenges.”

The move comes a few hours after Invest-NL announced the plans to launch a new fund-in-fund initiative aimed at supporting scale-ups with pension funds, together with pension funds.

In addition to Invest-NL, Oost NL, TNO, leading tech investors, and family offices are participating in the VCC Deep Tech Fund, which is expected to close in June 2025.

The fund already holds stakes in companies such as Optics11, Delmic, and the recently added Fastmicro.

Over the next two years, the fund aims to make at least four additional investments in high-tech startups and scale-ups.
