Last update:

Keywords Studios, the Irish video game company has recently announced that it has acquired GetSocial, a business based in The Hague, Netherlands. GetSocial is a cloud-based software platform that provides a suite of functions that enable games developers to manage all social interactions between their game, their players and their friends’ networks. The acquisition further strengthens Keywordsโ€™ technology base and the range of solutions that it provides to its clients.

Accelerate GetSocial growth

GetSocial’s team of 12 engineers led by Jeroen Bouwman – CEO – and Viral Patel – COO and Founder- are all joining Keywords. GetSocial is currently in a development phase, having invested ahead of building revenues, but it is expected to become profitable during 2020. โ€œWe realised it was time for GetSocial to be part of a bigger company to accelerate our growth and ensure the availability of our product for our customers. Weโ€™re very excited to be joining the Keywords family, as through all our discussions with their management team, itโ€™s clear that we share the same values regarding our customers and our staff.โ€ according to Viral Patel.

Keywordsโ€™ expanding range of cloud-based solutions

GetSocial further expands Keyword Studiosโ€™ range of cloud-based solutions which includes AS Analyser (automated GDPR compliance testing for Android and iOS apps), Yokozuna Data (cloud-based predictive analytics and machine learning platform for predicting individual player behaviours and automated actions), XLOC (content management system for video game localisation), and Conform (3D geospatial visualisation software for procedural generation of cityscapes and terrains for games, simulation and urban planning).

Leading edge capability

“I am delighted to welcome the talented GetSocial team to the Keywords family. It extends our technology base further, bringing to Keywords a leading edge capability built around the social interactions of players in games, which we hope to promote more widely and develop further.โ€ Andrew Day, CEO of Keywords Studios, says.

As part of Keywords Studios, GetSocial will work alongside the engineering and marketing services teams. It will be fully supported by their worldwide sales team in introducing these capabilities to Keywords’ game developer and publisher clients globally, for whom technology that supports social sharing is an important part of attracting and retaining gamers.

Global tech talent in The Hague

GetSocial together with the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency UK and the headquarters of the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency, The Hague Business Agency has assisted Keywords in the visa application process for GetSocialโ€™s international workforce.

โ€œKeywords – as well as GetSocial – is an internationally operating tech company, that attracts global tech talent to live and work in The Hague, which is a great boost for our local tech ecosystem,โ€ says Nienke van der Malen, Director The Hague Business Agency. Over the years The Hague has quietly welcomed more and greater gaming companies, such as Blizzard, Paladin studioโ€™s and Lucky Kat Studioโ€™s. Having a multinational company like Keywords join forces with the GetSocial team will be a big boost for The Hagueโ€™s local tech cluster.
