3Bee: What you need to know
Founded in 2017 by Niccolò Calandri and Riccardo Balzaretti, 3Bee aims to protect biodiversity and pollinators’ quality of life by reducing their mortality rate through intelligent monitoring and diagnostic systems for bee health.
3Bee was born from the idea of combining biology, electronics, and artificial intelligence to make an effective contribution to biodiversity.
The company has developed a new technology, HiveTech, a 4.0 beehive consisting of IoT sensors that monitor the health of bees and allow beekeepers to reduce treatments and visits to the apiary.
3Bee says its technology can reduce the mortality rate of bees by 25 per cent and optimise pollination by 30 per cent.
Since its inception, the Italian startup has worked with a network of over 5,000 beekeepers, farmers, and companies.
Pollinate the Planet has already protected, monitored, and regenerated 10,000 hectares and monitored over 150 million bees and more, says the company. It has collaborated with over 500 brands from the logistics, real estate, fashion, food, retail, agri, and human care sectors.
The company has also signed a partnership with Genagricola to develop regenerative solutions for pollinator-proof agriculture and photovoltaics.
The company now has 42 employees.
