JetClub, a Europe-based sister company to US-based fractional operator Jet It, has announced the addition of the Bye Aerospace electric eFlyer 800 to its fleet, also claiming this development to be a momentous milestone in sustainability for the aviation industry.

Bye Aerospace is an American aircraft manufacturer based at Centennial Airport near Denver, Colorado. The company designs and manufactures electric aircraft, including the eFlyer family of aircraft. It was founded by George E. Bye, who is also the Chairman and CEO of the company.

The electric eFlyer 800

According to Bye Aerospace, the eFlyer 800 is a 7-passenger, all electric, twin turboprop aircraft. It offers a sustainable mode of travel that reconciles essential business travel with concerns about climate change.

Speaking about the airplane, George E. Bye, Bye Aerospace CEO says, “The eFlyer 800 is the first all-electric propulsion technology airplane that achieves twin-turboprop performance and safety with no CO2 and extremely low operating costs. This type of remarkable economy and performance is made possible by the electric propulsion system and advanced battery cell technology that results in significantly higher energy densities.”

The performance estimates for the eFlyer 800 include up to 320-knot cruise speed, 35,000 feet ceiling and 500 nm range with 45-minute IFR reserves at a normal cruise speed of 280 knots.

Its safety features include two wing-mounted electric motors, each with dual redundant motor windings, quad-redundant battery packs, and a full airplane parachute. Besides, some of its other features include emergency auto-landing system, intelligent algorithm ensuring envelope protection, terrain avoidance, and routing for emergency auto-land, and also an option for supplemental power solar cells and in-wheel electric taxi.

The plane’s 8-seats consist of up to seven passengers and one or two pilots. The eFlyer 800 has only one-fifth the operating costs of traditional twin turboprops and is geared for the air-taxi, air-cargo, regional and charter aircraft markets.

Electric eFlyer 800 for Europe

JetClub CEO & co-founder, Vishal Hiremath says, “Sustainability is at the core of the JetClub and Jet It philosophy. I want to be clear. Aviation is necessary for us to connect, to travel, to explore and to understand. Travel is truly the best education. Only aviation has made this possible. When we can do this with 100 per cent clean air and zero emissions, it is a win-win for us and the environment. With the addition of the eFlyer 800 to our fleet, we take a leap forward in our sustainability goals without compromising on business travel and economic development.”

JetClub reports the operation is expected to start by 2025 with the eFlyer 800 – it will have zero emissions and only one-fifth the operating costs of traditional twin turboprops. And, according to George Bye, CEO of Bye Aerospace, the company has developed an aircraft that meets the needs of the growing global population without compromising the environment.

And with this partnership with JetClub, Bye Aerospace is looking to roll out electric flight in Europe and Asia.

About JetClub

JetClub says its mission is to make business aviation simpler – to extract the best parts of it while leaving the hassle behind. “We created JetClub to be better value, more efficient, and cleaner than traditional options while operating with exceptional safety and better service.”

According to JetClub, it offers its clients the flexibility and convenience of owning a business jet, without the traditional administration, concerns, and expense. The company is based upon a fractional ownership model in which club members purchase a share of the jet in return for a certain number of days and not hours. JetClub looks to make the business aviation more accessible at a lower cost, better customer service, and no administrative effort on the part of the owner.

The Club has a dedicated flight operations team to take care of pilot training, maintenance, logistics, and international operations, and a concierge desk that manages all travel details and trip support.
