Online food delivery giant Just Eat Takeaway has announced that it has expanded its offices in Amsterdam. The company will move to this location by the end of this year which is located in the centre of Piet Heinkade.
This move comes just after the food delivery giant raised €1.1B through an offering of convertible bonds, earlier this month. According to the company, it placed €1.1B of convertible bonds, consisting of two tranches (“Tranche A” and “Tranche B”). The proceeds, said the company, will be used for “general corporate purposes as well as to provide the Company with the financial flexibility to act on strategic opportunities which may arise.”
Why the new location?
The aim to move to this particular location is to offer not only a great place to work for its employees, but to also attract top-class talent for further growth.
“Although the majority of our staff is currently working from home, the workforce outgrew the current accommodations in Amsterdam at Oosterdoksstraat and Harry Banninkstraat long before the pandemic,” mentions the company in a statement.
Just Eat Takeaway.com moved from Utrecht to Amsterdam prior to its Initial Public Offering (IPO) at Euronext Amsterdam in 2016. In addition to Amsterdam, the company has 26 offices worldwide, one of which in Enschede.
The company also has offices in Canada, Australia, Norway, Bulgaria, among others.
“The new building reflects the unique company culture”
Just Eat Takeaway’s new building will provide 14,500 sqm of space over eight floors and has a terrace overlooking the IJ river.
“We are very proud how our teams have managed to work remotely in the past year to deliver the best for our consumers and restaurant partners, yet we believe collaborating in person will still be a big part of the company’s DNA to drive successes. This new office will enable us to continue to deliver an inspiring work environment in our fast-growing sector,” says Robin Hulsbos, Manager Global Facilities & Real Estate at Just Eat Takeaway.
The company has more than 8,000 employees globally, of which more than 1,000 can be housed in the new Amsterdam office. Together, they help restaurants to grow and thereby create the best experience for consumers.
Besides, Just Eat Takeaway says the new office will reflect the company’s vision and values and will also encourage its employees to share their ideas for the same.
