Paris-based Maki People specialises in conversational AI agents that assess skills for job interviews and candidate filtering.
On Wednesday, the company announced that it has secured $28.6M (approximately €27.8M) in a Series A funding round led by Blossom Capital.
Others, including DST Global and existing investors Frst, Global Founders Capital, and Picus Capital, also participated.
The company will use the funds to accelerate the product roadmap, expand in the U.S., and expand the team.
“The U.S. is our top priority, and I’m moving to New York City to lead the charge. We’re hiring 60+ roles this year, so if you’re ready for a tough, crazy, and unforgettable journey, come join us,” adds Maxime Legardez Coquin, CEO & Co-founder of Maki People.
Maki People: Building a conversational AI agents for HR
Founded in 2021 by Maxime Legardez, Paul-Louis Caylar, and Benjamin Chino, Maki has developed a tool that allows companies to quickly assess candidates’ soft and hard skills through a library of more than 200 short tests (each lasting about 10 minutes).
“We’re tackling the $80T services market with AI conversational agents transforming how organisations operate. Today, companies spend 3-4 per cent of payroll on HR, but within 5 years, AI agents and human ingenuity will reshape work entirely,” adds Legardez Coquin.
Developed exclusively with experts from all over the world, the tests available on Maki assess candidates according to their skills, not their academic background, personal opinion, or CV.
Based on the results collected during these tests, recruiters can more easily recruit the most relevant profiles, which reduces recruitment errors and the time spent on each application.
From sourcing and screening to interviewing and selection, Maki’s agents handle the entire journey autonomously and at scale.
Candidates participate in AI-driven interactions—via voice, video, or text—that adapt to their profiles.
Additionally, organisations can tailor workflows to meet their goals, ensuring fair and compliant hiring across various industries and regions.
Maki is already integrated with 30 ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems): Lever, Greenhouse, and SmartRecruiters. The solution has already convinced a hundred customers ranging from large corporates to startups and scaleups.
