Based out of Singapore, the safety-leading e-scooter operator Neuron Mobility has entered into a partnership with RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents). This partnership will let the company bring the best practice in shared e-scooter safety in Britain. Notably, Neuron touted to be the safety-first e-scooter operator in Australia and New Zealand has entered this partnership as it prepares to launch in several cities across the UK.

This announcement of the partnership between Neuron Mobility and RoSPA follows the government’s decision to accelerate e-scooter trials in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic as a safe, socially-distanced and sustainable way to move around the UK’s towns and cities.

Safety-first e-scooter operator!

Founded by Zachary Wang and Harry Yu, Neuron Mobility has launched the world’s first app-controlled helmet lock that secures a helmet to all e-scooters between trips. This prevents helmets from being stolen or discarded and increase the usage among riders. One of the notable safety features include topple detection, which detects if an e-scooter has been left on its side and alerts an operations team to safely reposition it. The other one is a presence of a 999 emergency button that can tell if someone had a fall and helps riders access emergency services.

Also, there is voice guidance to warn and educate riders to ride safely. The ‘Follow my Ride’ feature lets riders’ family and friends to track an e-scooter trip in real-time for additional peace of mind and safety.

Neuron uses a combination of geofencing and GPS technology, which lets councils to control and dictate exactly where e-scooters can be ridden and parked. Also, they can tell how fast riders can commute in different areas. The tech is used to create slow zones, where the maximum riding speed is reduced automatically including school zones. Furthermore, it can be used to create no-go zones and no parking zones too.

How this partnership is beneficial

Given that RoSPA has been involved in accident prevention in the UK for over 100 years. The premier accident prevention charity in the UK will collaborate with Neuron to co-operate a unique e-scooter course that is designed with the safety-leading e-scooter of Neuron in mind. With this course, e-scooter riders will get the necessary theoretical and practical lessons on how to ride safely in Britain. Also, it will be delivered across the cities and towns in the country at major e-scooter hubs in city centres, university campuses and community parks.

This partnership is a significant step that ensures the rollout of shared e-scooters that is matched by rigorous user education. The largest e-scooter operator in New Zealand and Australia, Neuron Mobility has already proven to be a leader in terms of safety in the industry. The company has introduced an impressive number of innovative pioneering features and world firsts to the e-scooter market.

Zachary Wang, CEO of Neuron Mobility said, “Safety is at the heart of everything we do at Neuron so we are delighted to partner with RoSPA, the UK’s experts in accident prevention. We have already won a number of contracts to operate our e-scooters in the UK and councils have been impressed with our safety credentials. We look forward to rolling out a safety course with RoSPA that will have a real impact on the safety of our riders, and also the general public, in the cities where we operate.”

“Neuron and RoSPA share a common goal which is to keep people safe and prevent accidents on the road. We are excited to do our bit in educating a wave of new riders on how to enjoy rental e-scooters in a safe way”, he added.

Errol Taylor, CEO of RoSPA said, “As the world adapts to life with COVID-19, it is more important than ever to encourage commuters to choose safe, socially-distant, travel options, such as e-scooters. As e-scooter trials roll out in the UK, we are delighted to be partnering with Neuron to educate the public on the safest way to ride. Neuron’s core focus on safety and their innovative, world-leading e-scooter makes them an ideal partner for RoSPA, and we look forward to working jointly with them to enable healthy, active lives through good education”
