With the progress in technology, the travel tech sector has gained enough traction all over the world. This specific sector has taken off at an incredible rate and is transforming the way you book trips and choose destinations. In the travel tech industry, the prominently used technologies are machine learning, artificial intelligence, chatbots and cloud computing. With the implementation of these techniques, travel has been made easy, personalised and seamless.

Today, we have come across the hottest travel tech startups based in Barcelona. These have become gamechangers in the travel industry.

#1 FlyKube

Founded in 2017 by Sergi Vila, Albert Cuartiella and Paolo Della Pepa, FlyKube uses artificial intelligence to help you plan personalised trips suiting your requirements. You have to provide answers to a few questions such as budget, interests and more and choose the dates of the trip.  As of now, this travel tech startup has raised €400k funding. It facilitates surprise tours and you will get to know the destination only two days before the trip. 

#2 Only-apartments

Only-apartments was founded in 2013 by Alon Eldar and Elisabet Cristià. It is an interesting travel tech statup in Barcelona. This startup offers a search engine and is focused on short-term apartment rentals. It has over 25,000 apartments across 100 countries. As of now, it has raised $4.7 million.

#3 TravelPerk

TravelPerk was established in 2015 by Avi Meir, Javier Suarez and Ron Levin. It has built a contemporary travel booking and management platform. It has made business travel a think of the past with automated travel policies as well as approvals. Since its launch, this startup has raised €65 million funding. It has made big waves in the travel sector and has won the Scale Startup Competition at the TNW Conference.

#4 correYvuela

Founded in 2015 by Carlos Núñez and Juan Prim, correYvuela makes it possible to book flight tickets via Facebook, Telegram, WhatsApp and SMS. This is possible via a chatbot. It is an interesting approach to booking a trip as it will manage to beat the existing competition from other online booking platforms. It has raised €770k funding since the time it was founded.

#5 Apartum

Apartum was launched in 2013 by Manuel Ángel Rodríguez Izquierdo and Sergi Vilaubi. It has raised a little over €2M funding till date to accelerate its growth. This startup developed an aggregate meta search engine combining various sites and engines meant for vacation rentals.

#6 Ubeo

Barcelona-based Ubeo was founded in 2013 by Marc Zinck and Mark Knapen. It is touted to be an ebay for travel trips. It lets you bid on the overcapacity of restaurants, hotels and other leisure activities. It has expanded its portfolio and lets you bid on non-travel related products like tech gadgets, items and more. This startup has bagged nearly € 5.7 million funding since its launch.
