Travel startups and scaleups rarely get any limelight and that is a bummer since there are many companies that are dedicated to solving problems that arise while travelling. Uzakrota Travel Summit is one such event that recognises and rewards startups that are exceptional in what they do. This year’s summit recently concluded and two Amsterdam-based travel tech companies bagged the top awards.
Bidroom is an online hotel booking service for frequent travellers, which has received the Top Foreign Travel Startup award of the Year 2019. Another Dutch scaleup Tiqets, which sells instant tickets for museums and attractions, bagged the Top Foreign Travel Scaleup award of the year 2019.
Why Bidroom is the Top Foreign Travel Startup of 2019
There are multiple startups that work in the travel domain but Bidroom outcompeted its rivals to receive the Top Foreign Travel Startup award of the Year 2019. This is because the startup aims at making the online hotel booking a fairer affair for hotels and their guests. It claims to deliver the lowest possible prices for its members who book hotels, anywhere across the world.
“I’d like to dedicate this award to all our far-sighted Bidroom hotel members and frequent travellers,” said Bidroom CEO and Co-Founder, Michael Ros. “They believe in an efficient, user-friendly yet equitable approach to room booking, all without the burden of commissions.”
Tiqets becomes the Top Foreign Travel Scaleup of 2019
Tiqets was founded in 2014 with an aim of making culture across the world highly accessible for tourists. It does so by enabling travellers to easily book tickets for museums and attractions. The scaleup also received €53.8 million in Seed C round, which was led by Airbnb. “Tiqets is proud to be at the forefront of the ‘experiential’ revolution that is transforming the travel industry and bringing more people more frequently into the greatest venues around the world” says Luuc Elzinga, CEO of Tiqetsupon receiving the award.
