heycar – An insight!

Founded in 2017 in Berlin, heycar has built up an inventory comprising over 400,000 quality used cars from over 4,000 dealerships in Germany. With such a huge inventory, heycar is one of the top players in the used car market in the country.

The online used car retail marketplace was founded by Volkswagen and Daimler. heycar is a brand owned by Mobility Trader Holding GmbH. Volkswagen Financial Services and Daimler Mobility are its shareholders.

Aims to bring transparency

The used car industry in the UK has been facing strong customer scepticism since long. By expanding its service to the UK, heycar aims to overcome the scepticism and bring transparency in the process with its fresh and innovative thinking. The company has partnered with select dealers and online lists vehicles that meet its criteria to ensure customers get only quality used cars with warranty.

Speaking at the heycar launch event in London, CEO Mat Moakes said, “The UK used car industry is worth £50 billion, yet it works inefficiently for consumers and dealers. Buying a used car can be like a lottery, you don’t know what you’ll get. Existing websites are often cluttered with ads, eroding consumer trust. Dealers are burdened with rising fees for listing used cars online, squeezing their margins without a guarantee of leads or sales.”

Offers a simple solution

The German used car online marketplace offers a simpler solution to the UK. It lets potential buyers browser and find a suitable used car, and get a financial quote seamlessly right at the comfort of their home. The heycar platform addresses the pain points faced by buyers with its simple and effective solution, which is ad-free. Furthermore, heycar is also beneficial for dealers as it does not charge them any listing fee, and encourages them display the best quality used cars.
