Create2Fit led by Tom Coronel files for bankruptcy; still aims for a restart

Create2Fit, a webshop company led by well-known car racer Tom Coronel and entrepreneur Mark Koster has filed for bankruptcy. It is the parent company of webshops Televisiewinkel.nl, Koffiediscounter.nl, Barbecueshop.nl and Sneeuwkettingen.com.

Create2Fit was founded in 2004 by Marc Koster, Coronel’s business friend. He joined the company later. With 41 employees, the company is bullish about a restart. In recent years, the company’s ownership was changed several times. Back in 2009, a majority of the stake was acquired by Wehkamp and this came under RFS Holland Holding. In 2017, it was brought from RFS by Coronel. At the time of acquiring the stake, there were plans to rebuild it into a smaller one.

How it became bankrupt?

Regarding the bankruptcy, the company’s webshops show that they are temporarily closed due to these circumstances. Some webshops such as Phurby.nl redirect to the site of Create2Fit. Koster stated, “At the moment there are just too much emotion with Tom and me, and too much respect towards our employees and suppliers.”

Possibility of taking over candidates!

Though the bankruptcy information has been confirmed by the company, there is no word regarding the parties involved. It is said that they are hopeful for a restart, and we can expect more clarity about its future in a month’s time.

The possibilities are being discussed with the potential takeover candidates and at least a part of it seems to be a good consideration. However, there is no clarity if all the parts will continue and all the employees can retain their jobs, says a report by De Telegraaf citing the curator Robert de Lauwere.

No pending orders!

According to Koster, there aren’t any pending orders in any of the webshops run by Create2Fit. It is said that they turned off the shopping cart since last week. Since January 1, 2019, they have removed stocks from the sites so that consumers haven’t been able to place any orders. The last order was delivered to the customers on New Year’s Eve.
