Identity verification, guided in real-time by AI: This French startup raises €10M from Partech and Breega

While there is an increase in the digitisation of many services, there is an increased reliability on remote identity verification. Activities such as opening a bank account, becoming a delivery man, getting a temporary contract, and many more can be carried out remotely in an automated way. This is where a French startup ubble’s live streaming and artificial intelligence technologies come to play.

Secures €10M funding

Despite the pandemic and the subsequent lockdown, ubble secured additional investment from Partech, a leading international investor with almost 40 years of expertise and Breega, a young investment fund providing Seed/Series A investment to high-tech startups in Europe to complete its seed funding round. With this investment, the total funding secured by the company exceeds €10 million. The French identity verification startup will use the fresh funds to meet its ambition and become a leading player in its sector.

Also, the investment will let ubble recruit new talent and expand into the European markets. It has announced that fifteen positions will be filled this year, especially in the sales and marketing teams in a bid to accelerate the development.

Juliette Delanoe, co-founder of ubble said, “This new fundraising and this project with Bpifrance are for us another step in the conquest of the European identity verification market. We are confirming our desire to become a leader in French and European technology: combining cutting-edge technology, compliance with French and European regulations and respect for user data”.

Boris Golden, Principal at Partech added, “Our first reaction when we heard about ubble was: ‘another identity verification startup’! However, we couldn’t imagine that such an exceptional & expert team would have launched itself without having identified a huge opportunity. And indeed, ubble had an incredible strategic vision and audacity: to spend several years building a deeply differentiated technology, without worrying about existing offers that did not bet on a strong technological core. With the growing demands of customers and regulators, ubble’s positioning is proving its relevance and deep added value every day”.

Isabelle Gallo, Partner at Breega said, “We are delighted to support ubble in its conquest of new markets. To date, ubble is the most reliable and user-friendly solution offering online identity verification via real-time video. Obtaining the ANSSI certificate would enable it to accelerate the digital transformation of a large number of traditional banking and financial institutions and eventually become a global reference in identity verification”.

Heads up about ubble

Established in 2018 by François Wyss, Juliette Delanoe, and Nicolas Debernardi, ubble is an alumni of Gemalto, Google, and Criteo. The mission of ubble is to fight identity fraud in the online world using video streaming and AI technologies. It lets companies verify users’ identity in a reliable, simple, secure, and privacy-friendly way.

With video streaming technology, it is possible to combat identity theft more effectively. And, with real-time AI guidance, it becomes an interactive, fun and fast experience for users. What’s interesting is that ubble’s algorithms can check even holograms, plasticity, and rigidity of IDs. Its remote identity verification solution is reliable in real-life and more enjoyable and convenient as well.

It has been built to be compliant with current European regulations such as GDR and eIDAS that provide opportunities for continental expansion. It intends to get certification of its solution by ANSSI in 2020 to accelerate development in the regulated sectors such as credit, insurance, banking, etc. Its identity verification solution is valued by major players such as Sofinco (Crédit Agricole Group), Carrefour Banque, the neo-bank Kard, and digital temporary employment agencies Side and Iziwork.

Partnership with Bpifrance

As the remote identity verification technology of ubble is useful and effective, Bpifrance has integrated its solution into its user path. Having entered into a partnership with Bpifrance, ubble has demonstrated its flexibility and integrated its unique system with its solution in just two weeks so that it is possible to verify the identity of entrepreneurs who are impacted by the COVID-19 crisis who apply for support loans.
