Cologne-based B2B booking platform for furnished apartments, Homelike is looking to further expand its strong market position in Europe. In the process, the German startup has now entered the Netherlands. Hence, from December 11, 2018, 1,000 apartments for business travellers and companies from around the world can be booked on Homelike in Amsterdam, the third most important business travel destination in Europe according to BCD Travel.

Succeeding Amsterdam, Homelike is starting to offer apartments in Rotterdam and other cities in the Benelux region as part of the ongoing internationalization. Founded in 2014 by Christoph Kasper and Dustin Figge, Homelike is also known as the Airbnb of Germany for business travellers.

“We are very excited to offer furnished apartments also in Amsterdam where many large companies are based. Amsterdam is an international melting pot and companies were frequently asking us if we can support them in finding business accommodation for their employees on assignments or relocations. Finding a reasonably priced and comfortable ‘home away from home’ from abroad is very difficult because of highly fragmented apartment offerings. Therefore, Amsterdam was the next logical step for us as part of our European expansion strategy,” said Dustin Figge, CEO, and Founder of Homelike.

Following the successful opening of the first overseas office in the UK, the launch of the business in the Netherlands is Homelike’s second internationalisation step outside of the GSA region (Germany, Switzerland, Austria).

“Thanks to the proximity to Cologne’s Homelike headquarters and the very close and efficient cooperation with the apartment providers in the Netherlands we have been able to quickly offer a large selection of high-quality apartments,” says Pia Schürmann, Key Account Manager responsible for supplier acquisition.

Homelike already has a portfolio of 50,000 furnished business apartments in four countries and more than 120 cities. The digital booking process makes renting furnished apartments for more than 30 days as easy as booking a hotel. This allows companies and executives to offer their employees the comfort and privacy of their own home on longer business trips. At the same time, companies save around 40% of the costs compared to hotel accommodation. Homeline already has a portfolio of 50,000 furnished business apartments in four countries and more than 120 cities.
