Career-changers are inclined towards tech companies for a good reason. Only of the common reasons is that this field offers high salaries. But, it does not mean that you just join a tech company just because you can earn well. Whatever be the position or company you are looking for, the hunting process extends beyond the job description. There are several factors that you should keep in mind including opportunities for growth, company culture, etc.

In a recent report by Hired, which has surveyed 3,600 participants, several aspects have been reviewed and concluded. One aspect of the report focuses on what motivates candidates to accept a job offer from a tech company. It has come up with interesting insights into the same showing that over 40% of the tech talent consider company culture as an important aspect when looking out for new opportunities.

So, what are the most important things to look for when accepting a job in a tech company? Well, here are the insights from the Hired report.

#1 Compensation

When looking analysing a job offer or comparing two, the most tempting option that you might end up choosing for is the compensation. This is what 50% of the participants who took part in the Hired report also claim the same. Of course, compensation is not the main aspect to consider while choosing a job offer, but the numbers aren’t the only deciding factors to stay motivated in the job.

#2 Company culture

Many employees give importance to the company culture and ensure that it suits their personality. For instance, a person who has been comfortable with a casual environment might not be able to adjust to the corporate culture. It is for this reason that 42% of the participants suggested company culture as an important aspect to have in mind while choosing a tech job.

#3 Opportunity to learn new skills

Be it any position, it is important to have opportunities to learn new things. Especially, during the early stages of career, it is essential to learn new skills to climb up the career trajectory. Learning new skills is the key to take your career to great heights. This is why 39% participants surveyed by Hired prefer learning new skills as one of the main reasons to consider while accepting a new job.

#4 Benefits beyond salary

Besides compensation, having great benefits as a part of the package is also important. Many companies offer additional perks including health, training, flexible timing, etc. These benefits focus on the employee wellness. If benefits aren’t important, then working for a company without benefits might be challenging. From the survey, 26% candidates consider benefits as one of the most important reasons to accept a job offer.

#5 Career growth

While it is important to have an opportunity to learn new skills, it is equally important to work with a company that offers chances to grow within the organisation. It can be an internship or an entry-level job but the opportunity to grow will result in promotions. Eventually, 26% of the participants of the Hired survey have chosen this as a reason to accept a tech job.
