Weglot, a Paris-based SaaS company that offers translation API for websites, announced on Thursday that it has secured €45M growth investment from Partech.
The company says it will use the investment to accelerate product development, market expansion and hiring talents. The announcement comes five years after raising funds in Seed round from SIDE Capital in 2017.
Augustin Prot, CEO of Weglot, says, “We are thrilled to welcome our new investor on board and excited to build on the growth we’ve built up over the last 6 years. Partech is an excellent partner to help us accelerate our expansion and allow us to scale the business. This significant milestone will allow us to become the category leader for web translation.”
Weglot: What you need to know
Founded by Augustin Prot and Remy Berda in 2016, Weglot is a no-code website translation software that allows anyone to launch a multilingual website instantly.
It translates and displays the content of a website, removing the need to manage multiple websites for multiple markets. The company’s API integrates into websites within minutes through a plugin or a script.
Weglot’s solution helps companies translate more than just the words on the website, including images, metadata and content coming from outside of a website (e.g. a review app).
To date, the French company has helped more than 60,000 B2B and B2C brands translate and display their websites in multiple languages, including Microsoft, Spotify, Steve Madden, and Volcom.
Based out of Paris, Partech is a technology venture firm that invests in seed, venture and growth stages. The VC helps companies in the capital, operational experience, and strategic support for entrepreneurs.
Investments range from $200K to $50M in a wide range of technologies and businesses for enterprises and consumers, from software, digital brands and services, to hardware and deep tech across all major industries.
Partech’s current portfolio includes 200+ companies in more than 30 countries, of which 14 are valued at more than $1B. They are Alan, Bolt, Cazoo, Jellysmack, Made.com, ManoMano, Merama, People.ai, Rohlik, Sorare, Toss, Wave, WorldRemit, Xendit.
Bruno Crémel, General Partner at Partech, says, “We are very excited to partner with Augustin, Rémy, and the whole Weglot team. We have been tremendously impressed with their commitment to product quality, and the customer-centric culture they have built over the last 6 years. With this latest round, Weglot is ideally positioned to capture the large opportunity ahead and become the undisputable category leader in no-code web-app localisation.”
