Volta Ventures, a Belgian venture capital firm that invests in aspiring internet and SaaS startups in Benelux has announced the second fund, Volta Ventures II. As a part of its second fund, the VC firm will invest €35 million in early-stage and fast-growing startups. Probably, the Benelux startups might get a second fund sometime in the first of this year.

Volta invests somewhere between €300K and €2 million per funding round in both early-stage and pre-revenue generating companies. The firm aims to bridge the financing gap, which exists between business angels and hundreds of thousands of euros of capital and massive funds of several million put forth on the table for mature companies.

Well-experienced partners!

This fund is run by partners possessing a strong experience of over three decades in venture capital investment. Its partners include Frank Maene (ex Hummingbird and Big Bang Ventures) in Belgium and Sander Vonk (ex Liberty Global Venture Capital) in Amsterdam.

Besides this, the serial entrepreneur and investor Michel Akkermans will remain to be the chairman of the shareholder advisory board and venture partner. And, the core team will comprise seven employees along with David Mozes, former Benelux regional manager at Seedrs.

Portfolio of exciting companies

Since its inception in 2014, Volta Venture has invested in many exciting companies such as WidgetBrain, BITA, SweepBright, Qualifo, Yields.io, and NodalView. Notably, these are just a few of them that have made to the portfolio of Volta.

Besides investing, Volta Ventures makes a substantial contribution to these companies in its portfolio by working along with the management and founders so that these companies can identify new clients and markets, provide advice and support, attract talent, and raise funding in the future.
