Last update:

Berlin-based NUMA Group (previously COSI Group), a digital hotel operator and technology developer, announced on Tuesday that it has raised $45M (approx €39.44M) in a fresh round of funding.

Investors and capital utilisation

The round was led by DN Capital Group, a global technology investor that previously backed Auto1, HomeToGo and Shazam. The co-lead investor was Headline. Existing investors Cherry Ventures, Soravia, Kreos Capital, TruVenturo, and Scope Hanson also participated in the round.

NUMA’s CEO Christian Gaiser says, “Our clear goal is to establish NUMA as the dominant technology and creative solution provider for a completely new generation of hotels in Europe. NUMA used the pandemic to prove the resilience of its business model. We achieved 500 per cent revenue growth and 85 per cent booking occupancy despite Corona using our NUMA concept and proprietary technology.”

Gaiser adds, “We will use the fresh capital to offer even more NUMA hotel rooms and expand our technological lead across Europe rapidly – we will also expand the NUMA Go business unit.”

What does NUMA Group offer?

Founded in 2019 by Christian Gaiser, Dimitri Chandogin, Gerhard Maringer, and Inga Svinhufvud Laudiero, NUMA Group claims to be Germany’s leading technology provider in the short term rental sector and driver of the new asset class, Commercial Living.

The company develops new technology solutions for the real estate industry, focusing on hotels and apartment rentals. It partners with investors, property owners, developers, and hotel operators to create technology-based operator solutions.

NUMA claims to automate operational processes by up to 40 per cent for hotel operators through automated business processes, intelligent pricing, and higher occupancy rates.

Expansion and growth during the pandemic

The company has been operating more than 2,500 units in European A-cities, including Berlin, Munich, Rome, Milan, Madrid, Barcelona, and Vienna, under the claim “bring some soul to travel.” It expanded its services in Spain, Italy, Austria, and the Czech Republic in 2021.

According to benchmarking solution Fairmas, NUMA Group outperformed the market average for traditional hotels by 230 per cent of booking occupancy during the pandemic. NUMA’s new strategic business unit NUMA Go, a technology franchise solution for hotels, has already convinced various hotel operators to adopt its technology in its first year.

NUMA Go is an all-in-one solution supporting the hotel industry in adapting flexibly to the new market conditions and significantly reducing costs.
