Last update:

On Wednesday, Los Angeles-based Regeneration.VC, a VC fund that invests in circular and innovative climate technologies, announced that it has taken over the management of Sky’s (previously Sky Ocean Ventures) climate portfolio.

Sky Ocean Ventures is an impact investing division of the British telecom company Sky.

It has supported early-stage startups in the climate and cleantech sectors, working on a range of solutions, including recycling technologies and strategies to address plastic pollution.

While Regeneration.VC takes over the management of these companies, Sky will still retain a financial stake in them, reports BusinessInsider.

With this partnership, Regeneration is expanding its footprint in the European market.

“This is a big step for us to expand our European presence, and we are humbled to be able to support this exceptional cohort of founders and companies already delivering top venture performance,” says Regeneration in a LinkedIn post.

The US VC has already co-invested in successful UK companies such as Greyparrot and Matter, showcasing its commitment to fostering sustainable business practices.

Regeneration.VC now counts nearly 50 companies in its global portfolio.

“We are backing these consumer companies because those categories of climate have received less funding than energy and mobility,” says Jamie Rowles, Partner at Regenerative.VC. “And we’re seeing a really exciting trend of some of the world’s biggest corporates wanting to make changes in their value chains and their supply chains.”

Regeneration.VC: Supercharging Consumer-Powered Climate Innovation

Based out of Los Angeles, Regeneration.VC is an early-stage venture fund “Supercharging Consumer-Powered Climate Innovation” driven by circular and regenerative principles.

The venture capital firm invests in consumer ClimateTech companies that operate across three main strategies:

  • Design (including AgTech & Aquaculture and Next-Gen Materials)
  • Use (including Apparel & Lifestyle and Food & Beverage brands)
  • Reuse (including Recommerce and Reverse Logistics platforms)

These strategies aim to generate measurable environmental impact while also having the potential to provide significant returns.

Regeneration.VC distinguishes itself by its focus on ‘Consumer Climate Tech’, with investments in the underlying hardware and software that the consumer market needs to become more sustainable.

Last year, Invest-NL, a Dutch national financing and development institution, invested €5M in Regeneration.VC Fund II  to create a bridge between the Netherlands and the US, giving Dutch companies access to American multinationals, capital markets, and local market expertise.
